PURPOSE STATEMENT

This role maximizes customer service and production efficiency through management of the production procurement, and raw materials management process. They focus on productivity, efficiency, and lowest total delivered cost.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES

Optimize working capital costs of raw materials, conversion, and finished goods 
Maintain standard cost data for all materials
Analyze and communicate inventory variances 
Communicate opportunities to improve the balance of cost and service 
Calculate raw material safety stocks and re-order quantities
Maintain documentation of raw material and packaging products, suppliers, safety stock strategies
Maintain effective working relationships with plants and corporate departments
Understand products manufactured by the plant and production processes utilized
Provide input and recommendations to Global Procurement for selections and management of suppliers
Work with suppliers to ensure they are prepared to meet requirements of the plant
Manage the raw material planning process that averages millions in inventory investment and average in conversion cost
Procure and manage inventory investment for assigned raw materials
Crosstrain and act as back-up to Master Production Scheduler
Committed to personal development and participates in all job specific training
Review age of all raw materials, take action to minimize spoilage exposure
Calculate, publish, and communicate material related metrics
Keep plant and planning teams aware of performance and opportunities

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree required. Major in Business or Logistics preferred
  • 3-5 years of planning experience
  • 2-3 years of experience in a logistics function preferred
  • APICS Certification or matriculation towards certification is preferred
  • Experience with MRP system; SAP strongly preferred
  • Statistical and spreadsheet analytical skills, including proficiency with Excel and Access.
  • Thorough understanding of Supply/Demand as relative to MRP functionality
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, distribution, and customer service
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
