National Account Manager - Sam's Club (Consumer Brands)

To drive consistent sales and profit growth while attaining superior customer satisfaction for the Sam’s Club Business.  This role will work closely with cross functional teams to develop items and business plans for this strategic customer.



  • Identify key fact-based customer needs and requirements in the areas of product development, merchandising, logistics, operations and finance.
  • Develop short and long term objectives, strategies and goals for the business based upon strategic needs and requirements.


  • Deliver and exceed on key Sam’s Club tablestakes including “Comp-growth”, “Speed to market” and “Innovation”.
  • Execute key programs for Sam’s Club growing comp sales in strategic categories
  • Execute new product introductions meeting key customer metrics.
  • Achieve annual and long term business plans including key metrics for sales growth, division income, customer satisfaction, return on sales margins and total cost.
  • Utilize project management skills.

Associate Management

  • Peer Management - Provide leadership and guidance to customer service, PBT and account team associates.


  • Maintain/grow RPC margins over the long term while meeting customer retail requirements.


  • Develop and maintain superior relationships with DMM, Buyer, Assistant and Replenishment levels within Wal-Mart organization.
  • Direct and influence Product Management and Innovation, Manufacturing, R&D, Logistics, and Senior Management.
  • Communicate product customization needs and requirements including specifications, volumes timing and requested pricing to the PBT teams.
  • Drive new product development in concert with customer requests through active communication with Channel Marketing and PBT leaders.
  • Deliver consistent communication and follow-up to Wal-Mart ISB team and RPC associates
  • Develop sound communication with alliance partners in support of Wal-Mart

Bachelors Degree in business or related field


7+ years of sales experience in the food industry; experience in retail channel –


Demonstrated success in managing and directing change


Excellent communication skills (vertical and horizontal)


Ability to plan events/activity on a rolling 18 month basis


Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional teams

Solid Financial Acumen with some P&L management


Detailed oriented


Demonstrated ability to be a team player


Demonstrated ability to work in a matrix organizational structure


Demonstrated experience applying retail scan data to drive objectives


Fundamental understanding of Retail Link capabilities


PC proficiency to include Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint


Ability to travel up to 25%
