The Assistant Manager, Customer Marketing (Instore Bakery/Deli & Ingredients) provides support to all aspects of brand & marketing development, including social media & website engagement, consumer promotions, sales materials and support, and consumer trends and research.  The Assistant Marketing has working knowledge of consumer needs, retail trade marketing, and developing sales driving promotions. 


Digital Content

  • Provides technical expertise on all digital communication, including the website.    
  • Create, develop and manage content for organization’s web presence and social platforms (requires working with content management software).
  • Maintain a consistent look and feel throughout all web properties and social platforms, including Pinterest and Instagram.
  • Working with a cross-departmental team, to maintain and develop the master content calendar for all web properties.
  • Monitors the social networking environment and raises issues for action.
  • Track and report on all site metrics, including website traffic, usage reports, etc.


Customer Development 

  • Maintains internal knowledge base and coordinates with research resources to assess insights available from both primary and secondary resources.
  • Expected to help assemble and analyze sales and market data and to understand and report on business trends impacting the brand/category.  
  • Contributes to development of customer reviews, business plans, scorecards and strategic presentations.


Trade Marketing and Consumer Promotions

  • Assists and supports trade marketing in the implementation and assessment of consumer promotions expenditures.
  • Communicates trade plans between sales, marketing, and finance.
  • Accountable for preparing analyses to support the creation of trade marketing promotional strategies and to evaluate the success of the promotions.
  • Manage Coupon Redemption clearing house programs
    • Execute new coupon set-up, tracking, etc.
    • Analyze redemption trends to provide direction on new opportunities to drive demand.


Marketing Support

  • Actively supports Point of Purchase (POP) executions, including development, and production.  Participates, and in some instances, leads planning discussions.
  • Helps identify and collaborate on in store visual merchandising, aisle or shelf solutions.
  • Respond to questions and needs of other functions to issues relating to production, product set-up, sales and marketing collateral.
  • Accountable for managing POP inventory, ensuring materials are updated as needed and available to channel.
  • Assist with budget tracking, vendor billing, etc.


  • Bachelor's degree in marketing or related field required; Masters preferred


    Minimum 1 to 3 years marketing experience


    Experience analyzing and interpreting conflicting results from various data sources


    Exceptional digital writing and editing skills


    Experience with web analytics and performance metrics reporting


    Ability to perform content keyword optimization is a plus


    Passion for content, media, marketing, and the Internet


    Proven ability to build consensus and work effectively within a cross-departmental team


    Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment


    Demonstrated success in managing change


    Demonstrated leadership, taking initiative and delivering results


    Solid software proficiency to include Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint; basic Adobe

    Photoshop skills


    Must be an intermediate Excel User with knowledge of retrieving and interpreting syndicated data such as IRI/Nielsen.


    Knowledge of HTML and experience with popular content management systems (Drupal, Convio, Kintera, etc.) preferred


    Ability to travel up to 10%
