What this role entails:

Having in-depth understanding of Transportation and Warehousing industry, will support recommendations which will mitigate risk of market conditions or capitalize on market opportunities. Span of accountability will include:startegic and financial performance of the Warehousing and Transportation functions. Through Logistics team facilitates; issue/conflict resolution; Develop and execute process improvements, cost reductions and order management.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  •  Bachelor degree in Business, Logistics, Operations Management, Supply Chain or related degree
  • Minimum 12+ years Logistics experience; Temperature controlled warehousing and transportation experience preferred
  • Demonstrated SC project management experience for cost-critical projects working with cross functional teams
  • Demonstrated Knowledge of Transportation & Warehousing industry – including; DOT Rules, Tariffs, Hours of Service, Equipment, Challenges, and Trends
  • Demonstrated leadership and resource management skills; with 5+ years of direct supervisory experiance.
  • Effective negotiating, Influcing,conflict resolution, and facilitation skills
  • Strong analytical & quantitative skills
  • SAP Proficiency and APICS certification preferred

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES

  • Source & secure Transportation and Warehousing Services ensuring capacity to meet region requirements leveraging category management concept and industry analytics
  • Effectively balance network cost and performance to ensure delivery of desired level of Rich Experience for all USC Region Customers.
  • Establish standards of performance for the contract carriers & distribution centers consistent with departmental and company business objectives for delivery of the Rich Experience.
  • Manage Transportation Management System Provider and performance outcomes
  • Partners with Transportation and Warehousing category management leaders to analyze network opportunities, identify, and recommend network changes to support efficient, cost effective changes to support customer shipments
  • Train, coach, and develop logistics team in the execution of our transportation and Warehousing strategies; while etablishing work requirements 
  • Oversee the build and startup of new network facilities
  • Owns relationship & performance management of strategic vendor partners (BluJay, CHEP, Managed Warehouses)
  • Collaborates with Customer Service & Logistics team to execute Logistics strategies and to develop and understand space requirements for facilities and transportation lanes
  • Develop and operate within monthly and annual transportation & warehousing budgets. Effectively project cost performance and communicate financial risks to the plan,
