PURPOSE STATEMENT

The Sr. Manager, Research and Insights will lead the Research & Insights function and advance Rich’s market research and insights skillset. Enhance our insight development and decision making capability to inform strategy, breakthrough innovation, sustaining innovation and customer experience. Identify, test, deploy and share state-of-the-art research methodologies and tools. Advance market research best practices and engender collaboration against high impact initiatives across the USC region.Lead the Research & Insights function and advance Rich’s market research and insights skillset. Enhance our insight development and decision making capability to inform strategy, breakthrough innovation, sustaining innovation and customer experience. Identify, test, deploy and share state-of-the-art research methodologies and tools. Advance market research best practices and engender collaboration against high impact initiatives across the USC region.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES

Build best-in-class marketing insights capabilities that drive business outcomes and are leveraged as a key source of competitive advantage.

Ensure research is leveraged on important business issues and priorities.

  • Understand the business issues
  • Translate business issues to research objectives
  • Create learning plans and gain alignment internally
  • Align internal and external resources to build insights that drive business outcomes
  • Serve as the strategic interface with key internal customers and stakeholders to ensure alignment of function services with the needs of the business.

 

Proactively deliver understanding and strengthen insights capabilities in the 5C’s of consumers, customers, categories, competitors and culture to inform business strategy, innovation, demand creation and business/marketing decision making:

  • Qualitative and quantitative research to drive strategic insights that inform strategy development, innovation and VOCC
  • Market structure, market quantification and competitive analysis
  • Megatrend identification and tracking
  • Demand Space insights and Playbook Development to inform Innovation
  • Lead deep dive initiatives on emerging opportunities and threats.

 

Build a comprehensive range of research methodologies, tools and techniques to create competitive advantage

  • Quantitative and qualitative research
  • Leverage and connect primary and secondary data sources to create differentiated insights
  • Provide customer-specific research partnerships to drive joint innovation and demand creation initiatives
  • Best practices for Breakthrough Innovation, Sustaining Innovation and  Joint Customer Ideation

 

Develop best-in-class insights capabilities through a high performing team, partner network, processes and tools.

Own USC market research and insights best practices and share learning in order to improve our processes and execution.

Manage research budget

 

Leadership

  • Directs the efforts Research and Insights associates. Responsible for ensuring the team’s expertise and development.
  •  Ensure execution of plans and achievement of results by:
    (a) getting the right people on the team;
    (b) aligning and preparing them to perform at a higher level; and
    (c) providing daily leadership to create positive experiences to shape beliefs and actions consistent with our desired culture.
  • Member of Demand Creation COE steering team

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor degree in Marketing or related field, MBA preferred.
  • 10 years of market research experience with a proven track record of results
  • Experience in the food industry preferred
  • Proven track record in business and research leadership, successfully translating insights into actionable, influential results
  • Demonstrated ability to apply insights to drive high impact innovation strategy and business decisions
  • Demonstrated ability to be a strong business partner and team collaborator – demonstrated ability to work with all levels within the organization
  • Demonstrated broad base of experience using various quantitative and qualitative market research methodologies and techniques and the ability to interpret research to drive insights and influence business outcomes
  • Advanced analytical skills
  • Strong communication, strategic thinking, critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Solid software proficiency including Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint – Advanced proficiency Excel
