PURPOSE STATEMENT

Strategic Procurement professional responsible for enterprise-wide capital expenditures who partners with internal business stakeholders to drive procurement value, including development and execution of strategies that focus on optimizing costs, total cost of ownership (TCO), creating value, streamlining efficiencies, improving supplier performance, reducing risk and extracting innovation from supply base

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES

  • Delivers significant value through a Total Cost of Ownership approach to capital category management
  • Builds a short term and long-term category vision that is aligned with business stakeholders, and supported by strategic category management and sourcing principles
  • Develop and execute category sourcing strategies, by working with business stakeholders, leveraging industry knowledge, spend analysis, budget and planning reviews to achieve business requirements
  • Directly manages the capital strategic sourcing process, including; planning, team member assignment, RFX materials, negotiations, savings model, supplier selection recommendation and contracting
  • Creates a global capital network, sharing category management opportunities, identifying global opportunities, leading global sourcing/category management projects
  • Directs and leads category specific analyses and reporting, supply market research and spend analytics
  • Applies Supplier Relationship Management strategy and Segmentation (Strategic, Important, Transactional etc.) to category with goal of streamlining supplier base through strategic partnerships
  • Leads the implementation of strategic supplier development plans including maximizing procurement leverage and improving supplier performance
  • Drives metrics, data reporting and dashboards to support the achievement of value optimization goals
  • Negotiates and implements supplier agreements/contracts by working with cross-functional stakeholders and suppliers to reach agreement on contract terms and conditions, manages contracts, and prepares for strategy upon contract expiration/renewal
  • Lead negotiations driven by category strategy to achieve optimal value for the business
  • Benchmark payment terms against industry and look to enhance current payment terms especially with core suppliers
  • Responsible for ensuring that maximum amount of spend in assigned category is under procurement management (Compliance) and recommend sku rationalization, usage reduction through category management principles, drive costs out of supply chain
  • Leverages existing digital technology (including 3rd party digital) as well as new digital Procure-to-Pay investments to maximize category management value creation
  • Works with Indirect Category director and business stakeholders on identifying, recommending and implementing process improvements that can facilitate a more robust category management strategy
  • Create category dashboard to measure and manage category KPI’s as component of overall indirect dashboard
  • Ability to track value creation delivered through category strategy execution as part of overall indirect value tracker
  • Provide Strategic category expertise and support to procurement teams located in regions outside the US for assigned category
  • Leverage spend in regions outside the US to drive additional value with strategic suppliers, while delivering additional value to regional businesses
  • Establish a “Procurement Capital Center of Excellence”, consisting of repository of Suppliers, Supplier Assessments, Capital Knowledge Management, Equipment/Project Cost Modeling, Market Intelligence, etc

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Business, Supply Chain Management or related field  
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • 5 – 7 years strategic procurement experience, with preference for category management and large project negotiations
  • Experience providing project leadership and effectively managing projects
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • High level of contract knowledge
  • Experience partnering with and influencing internal stakeholders including ability to sell an idea and build consensus
  • Strong communication skills including written, verbal and formal presentations
  • PC skills (Excel, Word, database, statistical software) and the ability to efficiently create spreadsheets, pivot tables, other computer analysis, report writing
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in complex, sometimes ambiguous and always fast faced environment
  • Well-developed people skills, ability to influence others
  • Self-reliant and possess the ability to work independently and measure progress against goals
  • 10% to 15% Travel
