PURPOSE STATEMENT

Inspire, lead, and actively develop the carrier sales team to achieve departmental and individual goals.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES

  • Maintain a real-time (minute by minute) “pulse” on the team in regards to all sourcing, negotiation and booking transactions/decisions (a.k.a. Team Quarterback)
  • Develop & monitor an individualized strategic action plan with each associate to grow their carrier network while providing daily coaching and mentoring.
  • Performance Management and efficiencies
  • Decision-making for, delegation, orchestration and leadership of team
  • Short & Long-term Carrier Sourcing/Booking, Pricing, and Development based on Destination Zones
  • Promote relationships with small, medium and national carriers
  • Carrier Marketing and targeted projects
  • Reporting: Collaborate, implement, and monitor automated reports on Carrier usage and profiles, carrier booking rates, hourly assessments, etc.
  • Analyze market and competition to understand transportation and supply chain industry and adapt strategy to achieve competitive advantage
  • Understand and drive profitability through purchasing level improvements and targeted approach to new business

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED required.  Associate Degree in Logistics, and/or one to two years of experience in the logistics industry preferred
  • Computer skills with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook Email System
  • Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment, with the ability to lead and inspire
  • Must be comfortable and confident working in a fast-paced, dead-line driven, stressful environment 
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously with a sense of urgency
  • Ability to execute actionable items and show ROI
