PURPOSE STATEMENT

Under the direction of the plant manager, this position sits on the plant steering team and has significant influence on the daily plant operations.  This position is a newly created position to the plant and will be the sole owner of all assets in the plant utilizing all the mechanical, electrical and utility technicians.  In addition, this position will manage all productivity and capital projects.  The workforce is becoming a TPM workforce, so a commitment servant leadership is important and will be part of your daily work. 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES

  • With collaboration of the maintenance manager, drive technical skillset and track performance and budget.
  • With collaboration of the refrigeration manager, manage the ammonia PSM program and all

associated OSHA and local requirements.

  • With collaboration of the process engineer, drive process improvements and meet or exceed annual

   savings targets by executing projects

  • With collaboration of the building infrastructure manager, drive utility and building maintenance.
  • With collaboration of the maintenance planner drive spare parts inventory turns and budget. 
  • Sole owner of KPIs and Programs such as Availability, Costs, Reliability, RCFA,
  • Leader of the CI pillar in TPM.
  • Manage plant automation programs and equipment networking.  Allen Bradley PLC management is  

   desired.  Plant currently utilizes asset center to manage all PLC programs. 

  • Work with engineering, sales and marketing to execute new products.
  • Ensure availability of work tools, machine, and other necessary equipment required for the

   performance of job duties

  • Work with the City of Crest Hill to request and report any issues or improvements
  • Conduct periodic inspections to ensure the efficient performance of work equipment and systems
  • Prepare cost estimates required for operations, labor, and materials
  • Maintain documentation and proper records of work operations and decisions taken
  • Coordinate and assign to technical personnel according to their capabilities to ensure an even

         distribution of workload

  • Monitor and review employee work performance to identify areas of inefficiency
  • Mentor and motivate technical staff to deliver timely and high-quality services to customers
  • Ensure technical operators comply with set health/safety policies and procedures

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

Four (4) years mechanical or chemical engineering degree.

 

Eight (8) to ten (10) years experience in engineering and maintenance in chemical pharmaceutical, food and/or dairy processing.  Knowledge of automated manufacturing systems, process controls, and instrumentation required.  Must have experience in plant layout/facilities design, refrigeration, understanding of computer applications and be well versed in SPC's.  Experience needed in working with regulatory agencies, i.e.; water, utilities, and environmental.

 

Excellent communications skills, assertive and consultative management style – willing to be a leader, capable of multiple tasks simultaneously, PC literate in spreadsheet, word processing, scheduling, and CAD. 

 

Familiarity with all engineering disciplines.  Knowledgeable of plant operations.  Can obtain and use information from others.

 

Can coordinate people and organizations toward a common goal.  Can identify and correct problems in schedule, cost, communications, and priority during projects.  Can innovate management solutions to problems and implement them.

 

TPM experience and/or exposure is desired.
