Bakery Process Manager

PURPOSE STATEMENT

To deliver against Rich’s D4 Innovation Framework with key accountability and responsibilities within the “Develop” and “Deploy” phase of the framework linking to the C2L process. 

Through effective ownership of departmental accountabilities and responsibilities to provide in-depth knowledge and understanding of both bakery ingredient functionality and plant process to deliver commercially viable products whilst mitigating delivery risk.  

You will be the process expert during concept development working closely with departmental stakeholders, suppliers and customers to deliver food safe commercially viable products
 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES

Accountabilities 
•    Deliver Rich’s development growth agenda with specific reference to the C2L delivery process. 
•    Deliver against the identified roles and responsibilities within the process to effectively execute concept, plant and product improvement.  
•    Coordinate all trial requirements through effective stakeholder RACI communication. 
•    To maintain accurate records of all processes, trials and formulations 
•    Plan and organise resources to achieve delivery of trials in line with project critical paths. 
•    Evaluate and escalate process delivery risk at each stage within the C2L process to mitigate commercial, customer and consumer impacts.   
•    Attend customer and supplier meetings as required as the process expert representing Rich’s during new concept development.  
•    To identify cost improvement initiatives through process control and work closely with the manufacturing teams to achieve these goals.
•    You must always comply with Rich Products ltd Health and Safety policies and procedures .

Responsibilities 
•    To act as the functional and cultural “handshake” between NPD, Operations, Technical, Engineering, Supply chain and Commercal.  To ensure ways of working are in collaboration and with full transparency whilst maintaining a customer, consumer and commercial approach.
•    Work jointly with the developers to robustly evaluate concept risk through ownership of concept feasibility. 
•    Plan, lead and execute factory development trials to ensure products are manufactured consistently and are reproducible, (Test, Learn, Document & Feedback)
•    Responsible for documenting and communicating changes to product formulations and processing parameters during the trialling phase.
•    Manage all new concepts through scale up factory validation through cross functional organisation.
•    Evaluation of new or alternative processing methods in product application as necessary.
•    Work closely with the Project Controller to ensure timelines are robustly scoped out and delivered to meet internal and external expectations. 
•    Optimisation of the existing plant and facilitating innovation via new equipment or modifications
•    Keep up to date with the latest technologies within the global Bakery industry across ingredients, packaging and manufacturing processes.
•    Share Bakery expertise across all Rich’s UK sites. 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

Critical

•    High level Bakery qualification or similar Food Manufacturing & Process knowledge.
•    Recognised industry authority in the Bakery field or similar complex food manufacturing process
•    Extensive knowledge across ingredients, equipment and manufacturing processes.
•    Knowledge of Retail and Food Service ways of working


Desirable

•    Proven experience at a senior level managing product validation protocols through concept to launch.   

•    Experience working with retail and foodservice customers within FMCG.

•    Financially and commercially astute 

•    Understanding of continuous improvement principles
