Cost Accountant

PURPOSE STATEMENT

The Senior Cost Accountant at Rich Products will play a pivotal role in driving financial insights and supporting strategic decision-making within our manufacturing operations. This position focuses on analysing and optimizing manufacturing costs, ensuring accurate product costing, and providing leadership in cost management practices. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in cost accounting, a passion for operational efficiency, and a collaborative mindset.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES

• Cost Accounting and Analysis:
o Develop and maintain accurate product cost standards, including materials, labour, and overhead.
o Analyse production costs and variances, providing actionable insights to stakeholders.
o Prepare and review cost of goods sold (COGS) reports and recommend strategies to enhance profitability.
o Work with the teams to develop appropriate pricing procedures and checks.
• Budgeting and Forecasting:
o Partner with production and finance teams to develop annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
o Monitor actual costs against budgets, identifying and addressing variances.
• Process Improvement:
o Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process efficiency within manufacturing operations.
o Champion continuous improvement initiatives to refine cost accounting methodologies.
• Financial Reporting:
o Prepare and present comprehensive cost accounting reports to senior leadership.
o Support month-end and year-end closing processes with accurate cost accounting entries and reconciliations.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration:
o Collaborate with production, procurement, and supply chain teams to ensure alignment and accuracy in cost reporting.
o Provide financial expertise to drive strategic business decisions and operational excellence.
 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

Education:
• CIMA, ACCA, ICAEW or equivalent certification.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
Experience:
• 5-7 years of cost accounting experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in the food production industry, especially bakery products, is a plus.
Skills and Competencies:
• Deep understanding of cost accounting principles and manufacturing processes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics 365, with SAP4 HANA
• Advanced Power BI and Excel capabilities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on actionable outcomes.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage cross-functional teams.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
