  • As a major food manufacturing company, your role as a multi–skilled operations Engineer will have a hands on approach carrying out breakdowns, planned maintenance and project work.
  • To ensure products manufactured are safe, legal and comply with customer's quality standards.

This role will work nights. 2200-0600 Sunday - Thursday


  • Adherence with all Company Occupational Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures. To ensure full co-operation in all aspects of HSE and to act positively on any failings or weaknesses in our systems or procedures, identified by yourself or brought to your attention.
  • Ensure that all working practices comply with Health & Safety legislation, industry standards and RICH policies and procedures. A focus and drive of zero lost time accidents.
  • Ensure quality and compliance standards are exceeded through good practices to include Safety, Quality and Technical legal and legislative requirements.
  • Responsible for continuously striving to improve OEE (overall equipment efficiency) by efficiently and effectively reducing breakdowns of equipment.
  • To ensure that communication and working relationships are of the highest standard preventing conflict and confusion between production staff, engineering, technical and hygiene teams.
  • Submit continuous improvement ideas with the focus of reducing down time on machinery and reducing waste.
  • Seek to investigate innovative methods of improving the performance of the RICH technology, site and energy savings through break through thinking and application of innovative preventative maintenance techniques.
  • Ability to self-develop, actively seek to broaden your Engineering and Operational knowledge and skill base and filter this knowledge through the organisation.
  • Supporting and action of “Root cause” activities in problem solving and process improvement whilst coaching teams on required methods of problem solving.
  • Ensure that the maximum optimisation of machines is achieved through engineering CI and the reduction in breakdowns and minor stoppages.
  • Seek to quickly instigate effective fault analysis and solve machine problems through the collaboration of all departments.
  • Support Autonomous Maintenance.
  • Ensuring accurate data input and recording of all related databases to aide in detailed analyses for focused improvements and ensure legal compliances are maintained.
  • Work cross functionally with teams in the organisation to identify and systematically solve problems, share knowledge to build on the RICH values and the Engineering/manufacturing strategic plan.
  • Ensure that production specifications and quality standards are adhered to.


  • Completed a recognized training program e.g. Apprenticeship or graduate scheme to a minimum level 3 Electrical or equivalent experience
  • At least 5 years’ experience of Reliability/Production in a FMCG manufacturing/packing environment.
  • Strong Electrical understanding and ability to fault find.
  • PLC technology and programming. (Siemens/Mitsubishi or Equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of Pneumatic control and design.
  • Able to read and update Electrical/Mechanical drawings.
  • Strong Mechanical experience and ability.
  • Work within all necessary H&S legislation (e.g. 17th Edition, LOLER, PUWER, PAT testing, Electricity @ works regulations, COSHH.)
  • Safety qualification with expertise in permits, guarding, isolation.
  • Trained and experienced in 17th Edition IEE regulations.


  • Training and Experience in Automated pick and place technology. (Robotic)
  • Experience in maintenance management systems.
  • Use of TPM/RCM/RCA principles to drive improvements in performance.
  • Experience of CBM - thermographic and Vibration analysis.
  • Fabrication experience (include welding).
  • Installation of Electrical supplies and distribution in industrial environments.
  • Installation inspection and testing.
  • ONC/HNC Qualified.
