PURPOSE STATEMENT

•    As a major food manufacturing company, your role as a multi–skilled operations Engineer will have a hands on approach carrying out breakdowns, planned maintenance and project work. 
•    To ensure products manufactured are safe, legal and comply to customer's quality standards.
 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES

•    Adherence with all Company Occupational Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures. To ensure full co-operation in all aspects of HSE and to act positively on any failings or weaknesses in our systems or procedures, identified by yourself or brought to your attention.
•    Ensure that all working practices comply with Health & Safety legislation, industry standards and RICH procedures. A focus and drive of zero lost time accidents.
•    Ensure quality and compliance standards are exceeded through good practices to include Safety, Quality and Technical legal and legislative requirements.
•    Responsible for continuously striving to improve OEE (Overall Equipment Efficiency) by efficiently and effectively reducing breakdowns of factory machinery.
•    Submit continuous improvement ideas, i.e. plan, implement and review, with the focus of reducing down time on machinery and reducing waste.
•    Ensuring accurate data input and recording of all related databases to aide in detailed analyses for focused improvements and ensure legal compliance records are maintained.
•    Ability to lead a team of multi-skilled engineers.
•    Ensure that communication and working relationships are of the highest standard preventing conflict and confusion between production staff, engineering, technical and hygiene teams. 
•    Monitor and communicate the performance of the planned maintenance system with regard to downtime recording accuracy and maintenance compliance.
•    Work directly with the required functions and departments to ensure all equipment and processes are developed efficiently and in accordance with all relevant process. Operational performance KPIs will determine the success of improvements.
•    Promote design for manufacture in equipment, modifications and  product design.
•    Seek to investigate innovative methods of improving the performance of the RICH technology, site and energy savings through break through thinking and application of innovative preventative maintenance techniques.
•    Actively seek to broaden your Engineering and Operational knowledge and skill base and filter this knowledge through the organisation.
•    Supporting and action of “Root cause” activities in problem solving and process improvement whilst coaching teams on required methods of problem solving.
•    Ensure that the maximum optimisation of machines is achieved through engineering CI and the reduction in breakdowns and minor stoppages.
•    Support Autonomous Maintenance. 
•    Work cross functionally with teams in the organisation to identify and systematically solve problems, share knowledge to build on the RICH values and the Engineering/manufacturing strategic plan.
•    Ensure that production specifications and quality standards are adhered to.

You must comply with Rich Products Health and Safety policies and procedures at all times.
 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

Critical

•    At least 5 years’ experience of Reliability/Production in a FMCG manufacturing/packing environment.
•    Strong Electrical/Mechanical/Pneumatic understanding with ability to ensure full RCAs.
•    Clearly evidenced use of CI and lean principles to implement improvements.
•    Able to read and update Electrical/Mechanical drawings.
•    Work within all necessary H&S legislation (e.g. LOLER, PUWER, Electricity @ works regulations, COSHH.
•    PLC technology and programming (Siemens/Mitsubishi).
•    Completed a recognised training programme e.g. apprenticeship or graduate scheme
•    Level 3 certification in electrical/ mechanical engineering.
•    Qualified in 18th Edition IEE regulations.
•    Expertise in permits, guarding, isolation.
•    Competent user of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Desirable

•    Experience of leading small teams within an FMCG/Food environment.
•    Experience in maintenance management systems. (Shire or SAP)
•    Use of TPM/RCM/RCA principles to drive improvements in performance
•    Experience of CBM - thermographic and Vibration analysis.
•    Fabrication experience (include welding).
•    Installation of electrical supplies and distribution in industrial environments.
•    Understanding of Lean tools and techniques.
•    Management of small development projects.
•    Installation inspection and testing.
•    IOSH qualified.
•    ONC/HNC qualified
