Purpose Statement

The Wastewater Technician will serve as the general operator of the wastewater pretreatment system and to carry out daily duties to ensure compliance with the MWRD, as well as being responsible for the general sanitation and building and ground maintenance duties throughout the plant.

Key Accountabilities and Outcomes

Know and understand full operation of the Wastewater Pretreatment System.
Complete preventive maintenance and other routine calibrations.
Keep wastewater pretreatment system tour ready.
Monitor all daily analytical parameters to ensure equipment is functioning properly.
Responsible for chemical inventory for the wastewater pretreatment process.
General sanitation duties throughout plant (i.e. dusting, clean windows & floors, etc.)
Assist in optimizing operation / process of the wastewater pretreatment system.
Review and revise standard operating procedures for the wastewater pretreatment system
Responsible for operation and discharge documentation of the compactor.
Operate ALAR vacuum drum filter
Complete general building and grounds duties.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists and document all MWRD reporting (i.e. daily water discharge).
Performs other related duties as required.
Prepares reports and summaries as required.
Works with purchasing department to secure reasonable quotes for the purchase of wastewater chemicals.
Assists in the compliance and reporting of the wastewater treatment facility.
Participates in the development of equipment modification within the wastewater process.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

High School Diploma or Equivilant
1 year of experience
Basic understanding of wastewater pretreatment systems and knowledge of basic mathematics and chemistry.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
