Purpose Statement

Accomplish the continuous effective provision of appropriate electrical power to all systems and equipment in the plant through the effective and efficient maintenance and repair of all plant electrical systems, circuits, and equipment and the wiring or re-wiring for new equipment.  The scope of this position will include actual installation and repair of electrical systems, preventive maintenance, resolution of problems, and mechanical and electrical repair of machinery.  Contribute to the profit and well-being of the Company by performing tasks in a safe, efficient, quality-conscious, and cost-conscious manner and by working in a cooperative manner with his/her supervisor and co-workers.

REPORTS TO:  Maintenance Team Leader;  Maintenance Group Leader

Essential Job Functions

  1. Using prior training and application of that training to specific Company equipment, maintains and repairs assigned systems.  Performs specific preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, mechanical and electrical repair, electrical installations, and machine wiring and other tasks and techniques to keep electrical systems in operational condition to meet production, refrigeration, storage, waste water processing, building and grounds, and shipping needs.  This includes, but is not limited to:
  • designing and installing control circuits and associated wiring for equipment installation
  • tracking downtime and keeping logs and other information on operating results and problems
  • analyzing information to determine preventive maintenance plan
  • troubleshooting high voltage circuit problems to appropriate solution and physically repairing equipment; upgrading circuits to National Electrical Code specifications
  • identifying NEC violations and correct to specifications
  • using common maintenance hand tools and specialty tools to repair and maintain equipment
  • inspecting equipment by sight and sound, and reading gauges and other measuring devices on a routine basis to assure optimum operating condition
  • reading equipment manuals, blueprints and other sources of information to build knowledge and assure appropriate operation and repair of equipment
  • ordering parts and supplies to maintain equipment
  • repairing current breaker panels on equipment from 1 to 500 horsepower applications
