Purpose Statement

The Utility Associate supports the production team in a high-volume pizza manufacturing environment by performing essential tasks that ensure smooth, safe, and efficient operations. This includes handling ingredients, staging materials, supporting batching and blending activities, maintaining production line flow, and performing sanitation and housekeeping duties. The role provides a realistic preview of working in a fast-paced food production facility where accuracy, safety, and teamwork are critical.

Key Accountabilities and Outcomes

Product Handling & Line Support
Prepare, stage, load, and move ingredients and materials for pizza production.
Set up required tools, supplies, and ingredients for batching, blending, and line runs.
Lift and transport materials (typically 25–50 lbs; up to 50 lbs) and operate manual/electric pallet jacks.
Support batching by supplying accurate ingredients and quantities, and keep production lines stocked to maintain flow.
Operational & Process Support
Identify and escalate basic product or process issues.
Perform visual quality checks on ingredients and product.
Follow safe‑work practices, including LOTO when required.
Use proper ingredient‑handling procedures to prevent cross‑contamination.
Sanitation & Housekeeping
Complete routine sanitation tasks (sweeping, wiping, trash removal).
Use hoses or squeegees to clean floors per sanitation and wastewater guidelines.
Maintain orderly, clean work areas following plant standards.
Food Safety & Quality
Follow GMPs, food safety rules, hygiene expectations, and quality procedures.
Maintain safe, sanitary practices when handling food and equipment.
Report any safety or quality concerns promptly.
Teamwork & Communication
Work collaboratively with operators, batchers, Team Coordinators, and supervisors.
Participate in team meetings and maintain a positive work environment.
Assist with training new team members as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

High school diploma or GED required.
1 to 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to follow directions.
Punctual and reliable in their work attendance.
Adherence to all safety and quality policies and practices.
Ability to work as a team player.
Ability to perform basic math functions.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Bilingual a plus.
Prior manufacturing experience.
Trade school, or post-secondary school.
Basic computer skills (Microsoft programs, data tracking software, etc.).
Experience with similar style food processing and ingredient batching.
Previous work using touch screen control panels and HMI monitors.
