Purpose Statement

Key Accountabilities and Outcomes

Learns in general all phases of receiving and storage of frozen materials and shipping of frozen finished goods on his/her assigned shift. Performs specific tasks associated with this process including, but not limited to: 

Receiving daily set-up instructions, pulling required ingredients and materials from storage, and taking them to the production line(s).

Performing daily routine safety and operating inspection of the forklift truck or pallet jack which he/she will be using, recording condition on appropriate form, recognizing problems and reporting to the maintenance technician 

Removing pallets of materials from trucks with a fork truck or pallet jack 

Using the forklift truck to move the materials to the proper storage location, including sliding the pallet into a rack or sitting on another pallet of materials.

Must be able to learn the bay storage system and how to stack and use the system accurately to assure proper inventory count and location of materials for future production 

Sweeping debris on the floor into small piles, picking it up with a dustpan, and placing it in the proper waste container 

Applies all product safety and quality requirements associated with the process at assigned positions. 

Identifies problems at his/her assigned work tasks on an on-going basis and determines if solution is within his/her training and knowledge; if so, corrects problem; if not or if not sure, communicates to appropriate person for solution. 

Develops and maintains a good working relationship with Freezer Team Leader and other managers, department members, and other co-workers. Resolves problems and conflicts in an acceptable manner that shows respect for the other person(s). 

Cooperates and shows commitment to department goals and efforts; attends department meetings and participates in them to the best of his/her ability. 

Works to understand overall impact of his/her job on department productivity and plant profitability; maintains high level of personal productivity and contributes suggestions for work process improvements to Team Leader or at department meetings. 

Follows plant rules and policies, including Lockout/ Tagout (LOTO), and Company code of ethics when performing job. 

Assists in orienting and/or training other team members on assigned tasks as requested. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

High School Diploma or GED is required
Fork truck, pallet jack. In addition, it may be required to move materials to the production lines, thus traveling around moving conveyors and among plant employees who may not have an awareness of the fork truck.

Willing and able to understand and accept instruction; follow directions, policies and rules; effectively communicate with peers and superiors; work in a safe and efficient manner; work effectively with other people in a work group; able to count, record counts and other information on report sheets, and calculate inventory of materials; able to safely operate pallet jacks and fork trucks in all environments

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Restacking pallets of frozen materials to verify receipt of right amount and right product; typical box weight of frozen materials is 50 pounds, with a maximum of 65 pounds
