PURPOSE STATEMENT

An Assistant Product Manager is responsible for supporting the planning and execution of the product category strategy and the management of assigned category to develop a marketing skill set.  You will be a key participant in marketing activities including market analysis, planning, product marketing, P&L management and project management partnering with Category Business Unit leadership.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES

Market Knowledge

  • In partnership with marketing leadership - begin to: Identify, analyze and anticipate consumer and market trends and opportunities to maximize Rich's competitive position. Develop a keen understanding of the Competition, Customers and Consumers; as well as a complete understanding of the brand and individual SKU performance in the market.

Planning

  • Partnering with marketing leadership beginning to contribute to the develop of trategic planning and annual operating plans

Marketing Management

  • In partnership, assist in the development and implementation of brand strategy, marketing plans and programs that produce targeted results within budget.
  • Participate and begin developing plans and collaborate with the Customer/Segment Marketing for assigned categories in order to meet sales and margin targets.
  • Collaborate with Demand Creation Center of Excellence digital resources to drive demand

Product Management

Partnering with category leadership, provide support in driving the development:

  • Renovation of existing products in alignment with overall category strategy.
  • Execute/Lead innovation initiatives within assigned category where appropriate, consulting with category leadership as needed.
  • Develop the ability to drive forecasting process by providing input and oversight of Demand plan, including risks and opportunities for assigned category.
  • Learn how to Own the P&L for assigned category
  • Perform analysis and make pricing recommendations for new and existing products based on price/value relationships and the competitive set in alignment with product leadership

Financial Management

Develop analytical and financial acumen through:

  • P&L analysis to escalate trends to leverage opportunities and manage risk
  • Supporting execution of portfolio price increases
  • Managing marketing budget for assigned projects/initiatives
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field required (MBA preferred) with minimum 1 year marketing experience 
  • Experience in basic analysis and interpreting results from various data sources.
  • Solid communication skills to include verbal and written capabilities; strong presentation ability.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and deliver results.
  • Demonstrated detail oriented skills and experience working in a team environment that includes multi-tasking and is fast-paced where persistence and thorough follow-up is essential.
  • Solid software proficiency to include Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Ability to travel up to 20%
