PURPOSE STATEMENT

Rich’s is growing our manufacturing systems team in Buffalo, NY. We are looking for highly motivated, self-directed, and customer focused engineer to join our IT Engineering team. Here you will leverage your engineering and project management skills to develop, install, and support our application portfolio that helps drive productivity and efficiency in our manufacturing plants using Microsoft, Rockwell Allen Bradley, and Wonderware technologies to support our growth strategy. 

This Associate Automation Engineer role reports to the Manager, Manufacturing Systems and Automation Engineering and is responsible for the delivery of MES solutions to enable business capabilities and services across the enterprise.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES

  • In this role, you will provide support and project delivery for Rich’s Manufacturing Engineer Systems. Works with Business Partners to determine business needs, identify system requirements and foster strong customer relations within areas of responsibility. Provides regular status updates to users and IS Management regarding projects. 

    •    Manage small to large projects including development, testing, and implementation of new applications and existing application changes 
    •    Coordinate IT/Engineering projects from conception through installation following PMI and/or Agile project management methodologies 
    •    Develop detailed specifications and perform design/analysis activities on small, medium, and large projects 
    •    Develop and configure manufacturing applications utilizing Windows Servers, automation hardware, SQL databases, and Wonderware technologies
    •    Manage internal associates and external vendors to complete application development and hardware installation activities
          o    Prepare high level testing plans for unit, integration, and system testing to minimize defects within the application
          o    Provide the information, documentation, and guidance necessary to transition new applications to support

    Provide level 1 application support: monitor application performance, remedy user inquiries, execute continuous improvement of support processes, and coordinate associates to support our application portfolio
    •    Responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving user inquiries 
    •    Plan and execute software lifecycle patches, enhancements, upgrades, and security updates 
    •    Plan and execute continuous improvements opportunities to drive efficiency in our applications

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

•    Bachelor's degree in Engineering, MIS, CS or related field, a minimum of 1 years of experience in application development, project management, and/or system integration. 

•    Familiarity with LEAN manufacturing, PLC systems, SCADA, and/or MES applications  

•    Experience using Microsoft products: Windows Servers, SQL Server (stored procedures, query writing, reporting services), and Microsoft.Net.

•    Strong PC Skills, proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project)

•    Strong customer service mindset including effective verbal, written, and interpersonal skills 

•    Demonstrated time management and organizational skills

Must be able to perform successfully in a fast paced results oriented environment

•    Preferred skills:
     o    Experience with Wonderware programming 
     o    Familiarity with Programming: .Net MVC C#; JavaScript; WebAPI; HTLM5 (Bootstrap, JQuery and AJAX preferred); SQL Server

•    Travels regularly (up to 50% of time)
