PURPOSE STATEMENT

Contribute to driving long-term innovative growth through the exploration, identification, development and incubation of new platforms and businesses, primarily leveraging external engagements.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES

Responsible to scout, cultivate and manage relationships with innovation partners:

  • Participate in industry events to expand our network of innovation and growth partners, including but not limited to early-stage companies, vendors, accelerators, incubators, entrepreneurs and supply/manufacturing partners in the innovation ecosystem.  
  • Collaborate with partners to identify and develop new commercial revenue opportunities for Rich’s 
  • Effectively broker introductions between partners and key stakeholders within Rich’s as appropriate

Support priority global growth initiatives in line with business strategies:

  • Work with core businesses to align on business priorities and growth opportunity areas, especially those where external partners could enable new growth
  • Identify new solutions and platforms for the organization to pursue, rooted in the priority growth areas of the business and BU strategies 
  • Rapidly develop and test new solutions and concepts, leveraging external and internal expertise and resources to most effectively test and learn
  • Flex in to accelerate critical growth initiatives for the organization as needed 

Contribute to the delivery of the growth and innovation revenue targets for the team 

  • Effectively conduct opportunity sizing and financial modeling for new opportunities
  • Drive the execution to convert pilots and testing to new revenue streams
  • Participate in portfolio discussions and decisions in line with targets, resources required and strategic objectives

Foster collaborative relationships with key stakeholders in Rich’s businesses – ensure projects are rooted in businesses needs and efforts are additive to existing efforts. 

  • Develop healthy relationships with key leads in the priority areas where healthy tension and debate further the organization’s efforts
  • Develop a keen awareness of the efforts happening within specific parts of the businesses in priority growth areas. Inform on key initiatives and projects of the team. 
  • Foster strong, healthy collaboration among the different growth vehicles and teams approaching the priority growth areas 

Ensure platforms are effectively transitioned to the appropriate business unit, if and where applicable 

  • Work with team members to flesh out ‘exit’ options and scale plan early in the process 
  • Ensure early awareness of projects and initiatives that are expected to transition into another part of the business. 
  • Work in conjunction with appropriate leads to ensure platforms and concepts are built into category and divisional strategies 
     
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field, MBA preferred
  • 5+ years of experience focused on innovation or business development. 
  • Ability to develop, incubate and scale new products, platforms or businesses
  • Solid business and financial acumen – demonstrated ability to develop the financial and economic strategy and modeling of business opportunities
  • Proven track record in developing innovation strategy and execute successfully; deriving strategic insights through business analysis and launch
  • Demonstrated expertise in translating qualitative and quantitative data and customer insights into strategies that drive business results
  • Demonstrated ability to move seamlessly between big picture and detailed execution; can make consistently solid judgment decisions based on limited data
  • Solid influencing skills to accomplish goals; leading through influence including experience working with a variety of levels within an organization
  • Business development and relationship building skills; ability to nurture leads and maintain relationships for short- and long-term opportunities
  • Demonstrates high energy and passion with an entrepreneurial spirit and thrives in a fast-paced, performance driven culture; bottom-line, execution focused; ability to think creatively
  • Strong relationship management with external and internal partners, approaches opportunities with a ‘how do we’ mentality
  • Solid verbal and written communication and presentation skills with all levels within an organization; demonstrated ability to actively listen to uncover opportunities, sell new ideas and platforms to business partners, and influence base business strategy
  • Proven ability to articulate an inspiring vision and powerful sense of shared purpose in others
  • Demonstrated ability with ambiguity and fluidity and the ability to make decisions in a rapidly changing environment while achieving quality results; ability to navigate situations where an established way of doing things may not exist
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction, exercise initiative and judgment, and make decisions within the scope of assigned authority
  • Must be able to handle multiple assignments concurrently, possess excellent organizational and time management skills, and be able to function in a fast-paced environment. Proactive individual with ability to anticipate, initiate, and prioritize
  • Demonstrated ability to set strategic vision and plans for new business units; track record driving activation to deliver results
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
