Business Process Consultant

Lead, drive and implement business process transformation and improvement programs/initiatives.  Provide program & project planning, budgeting and oversight. Provide strategic and tactical support for cross-functional process improvement teams.  Align Business & IS strategies.  Collaborate with process owners, business unit(s) and/or product group(s) to identify and recommend process change and technology insertion opportunities that drive business improvement linked to strategic imperatives. 


Process Design & Implementation (70%)

  • Plan and lead business process design activities including working with executives to define required outcomes, scope initiatives and design innovative business solutions that include people, process and technology components
  • Promote and champion the concept of Business Process Management
  • Establish metrics to effectively manage process change
  • Document and redesign business processes as appropriate
  • Facilitate organizational change
  • Map business processes using appropriate tools and methodologies
  • Manage a central “living” repository for business processes; Ensure integrity of process model/map documentation


Program/Project Management (20%)

  • Plan and manage projects/programs to drive business process improvement
  • Facilitate business case development
  • Promote horizontal and vertical communications between project teams and the rest of the organization; Assist with team and organization interfaces
  • Help to ensure that the project/program/enhancement delivers the anticipated benefits


Relationship Management (10%)

  • Foster strong customer relations within areas of responsibility and ensure alignment with business process leaders
  • Act as a process expert across business competencies to help prioritize business requirements and identify areas of opportunity/improvement
  • Ensure alignment with corporate strategies, objectives and initiatives through active participation in the business planning process. Maintain alignment with IT architecture strategies and support the implementation of common systems.
  • Effectively communicate (via writing, speaking and presentation) with all levels of associates within the corporation; Ability to adapt communication to target audience, including senior level leadership within the organization

  • Proven business process improvement experience
  • Proven project management experience, including definition of project plans, management of project budget, and the supervision of project associates
  • Experience using process modeling and mapping tools and methodologies such as Six Sigma
  • Experience implementing and/or supporting packaged application systems, preferably ERP systems such as SAP
  • Consulting skills
  • Business change management and communication
  • Business case development – development of financial schedules identifying the “value-add” (ex. Return on Investment) associated with strategic business initiatives.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills across all levels of the organization
  • Proficiency using Personal Computing software such as Windows, MS Office,  Visio, MS Project



Degree Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Business, MIS or related field
  • MBA or equivalent experience

Relevant Work Experience:

  • Minimum seven (7) years Process Design and Improvement  - experience in various core business processes (i.e. Order-to-Cash, MRP, etc.) or comparable experience implementing and supporting information systems for the relevant business area
  • Minimum seven 7 years Project Management


  • Business Process Management preferred
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification preferred
  • Project Management Preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership ability

Ability to:

  • Lead projects;
  • Establish relationships with key managers;
  • Effectively influence and sell ideas, concepts and solutions;
  • Analyze and redesign business processes;
  • Effectively “multi-task” and prioritize;
  • Understand the strategic landscape and tactical/functional implications;
  • Move fluidly among business, behavioral and technology competencies and abilities;
  • Utilize problem/symptom reduction techniques to isolate requirements and value-added solutions;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Up to 25% of travel to support project requirements


Direction of Others

  • Manages multiple project teams up to ten (10) associates, including contracted staff.
  • Lead discussions with Business Process Owners on business process improvements and technology capabilities.

Direct reporting relationship with the Director, Business Process Services.
