Intern - Communications

Buffalo, NY, US, 14213

Req ID:  23962

Rich’s has been able to pull off something rare in the business world: a culture that successfully blends the latest business practices with family values.  That means our associates are able to work for a great company while also benefiting from a work environment that fosters world class professionalism combined with family intimacy.  Our benefit offerings are reflective of this unique blend of Life, Work and Family .

Do your friends turn to you to edit their essays? Are you constantly correcting people’s grammar on social media? Get secretly excited when you can write an essay instead of taking a multiple-choice exam?

Then this internship is exactly what you’ve been looking for.

The Corporate Communications team at Rich’s is looking for an energetic student and exceptionally strong writer to join us as our Communications Intern. In this role, you’ll get to write about our people and culture, products (we’re talking pizza, cookies and cakes) and the work we do in our community, while learning all about the exciting world of the food industry.

We think of our interns as an extension of our team, so you won’t be fetching coffees or spending all day making copies. Our team of talented communications professionals will be there to guide you as you contribute to a wide variety of value-added projects and develop the skills needed to excel after college.

We are seeking a candidate that is available year round until you graduate. We will work around your class schedule/availability during the school year.

Speaking of projects, here’s the kind of work you’ll be given:

  • Write a variety of communications for our internal and external communications channels
  • This is a writing intensive role. You should love creating and editing content.
  • Provide general communications support for public relations, branding, recognition, special events and other projects as they come up.
  • Assist with research for team projects
  • Bring fresh perspective to brainstorms and team meetings
  • The occasional administrative task
  • Grow. Learn. Challenge yourself. Develop as a working professional and have a lot of fun while doing it.

  • Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program or graduate program at an accredited university;
    • Communications, Public Relations and Journalism majors preferred. Marketing, English/Writing, Human Resources and Business majors will also be considered.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.25 or above
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of AP Style
  • Proficient with Microsoft Products
  • Demonstrated leadership skills (campus involvement is a huge plus)
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment and clearly articulate ideas
  • Flexibility, adaptability and prioritization skills
  • Previous internship experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Premiere a plus
