PURPOSE STATEMENT

We currently have a great opportunity as an Intern supporting the Quality / Food Safety department.

The starting date for this Summer internship will occur in May 2019, with the opportunity to continue into the Fall 2019 semester.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES

Projects include (but not limited to):

  • Conduct shelf study analysis and routine microbiological analysis
  • Digital transfer of microbiological and food safety files to support FSMA requirements of reliable and timely access to information
  • Ingredient Food Safety Risk Assessment support
  • RME and RMC support for obtaining microbiological letters from suppliers as part of the STM and facility in preparation for audits.
  • Establish and maintain training library for microbiological laboratory analysis and environmental swab testing from internet availability and possibly develop videos that are more specific to RPC.

    Learning Objective:

  • Enhance oral and written communications, develop good working ethnic and professionalism. Provide learning and experience in Rich’s system and company culture.
  • Develop knowledge and understanding of quality principals and standards as applied to food safety and microbiology. Gain valuable and practical experience of for FSQA related project and microbiological testing.  
  • Become familiar and understand corporate goals and objectives related to food safety and microbiology.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Currently pursuing a college or advanced degree in Food Science, Microbiology or related concentration
  • Strong computer skills desired, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving capability
