Payroll Specialist

The Payroll Specialist will compile and analyze payroll data and statistics to maintain records for the calculation of payroll.

  • Prepare payroll in ADP Enterprise V5 which includes reviewing and exporting non-exempt time entry from eTime (Weekly Payroll – Hourly; Biweekly Payroll – Salaried)
  • Administer multiple union contract rules as they relate to payroll
  • Support sites on payroll issues and ADP questions
  • Coordinate educational assistance and SmarTravel reimbursements through payroll
  • Run and distribute reports
  • Maintain attendance records
  • Complete month-end reporting and reconciliations for direct deposits and garnishments
  • Set up of weekly processing schedules
  • Verify employment, complete mortgage applications, disability, workers’ compensation, and unemployment inquiries.
  • Assist with year-end payroll processing and review
  • Act as liaison to Associates with regard to payroll inquiries
  • Write ad hoc reports as requested using ADP reporting tools
  • Assist with payroll training and documentation
  • Assist with HR projects when required
  • Associates degree and 2 years of Payroll/Accounting experience required. Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years experience with payroll systems and administration required
  • Experience with ADP and knowledge of ADP Reporting and related HRIS systems preferred
  • Proficient (intermediate level) in Excel, Word, with knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook
  • Must maintain a high degree of confidentiality
  • Self-starter with proven time management skills and ability to prioritize in a high volume position
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic accounting principles (e.g. debits/credits) as they relate to payroll
  • Experience with processing Canadian payroll would be an asset
