PURPOSE STATEMENT

This full-time, Summer 2019 Co-op is in the Research and Development department, located in Buffalo, New York. The product category of concentration is Toppings, Creamers & Culinary Solutions (TCCS).

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES

  • Participate in a variety of research and development projects related to emulsion science
  • Assist in the pilot/wet lab with the development of food prototypes and/or processes while applying fundamental principles of scientific methodology. 
  • Independently conduct routine analytical and performance evaluations of food as well as their own project(s). 
  • Maintain a lab notebook and document laboratory testing conducted and record results/analysis.
  • Organize and prioritize tasks related to project work, summarize results in reports when required and assist in interpretation of data from experiments/analysis.
  • Students will be encouraged to improvise in the application of procedures and methods during such experiments or analyses as appropriate. 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

Must be enrolled in an accredited institution or recently completed a degree in an accredited institution. Preference will be given to those that are pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Food Science/Biological Science OR related field.  3.2 or higher grade point average required.

Excellent Microsoft office skills.

Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others. 

Demonstrated effective time management.

Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a high level of motivation, and drive to successfully complete work assignments. 

Culinary experience and/or interest an asset.

This opportunity does not include housing.
