PURPOSE STATEMENT

This internship in Research and Insights (R&I) will provide a hands-on learning experience in a dynamic environment. You will gain exposure to a variety of R&I projects, data, and tools.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES

As a member of our small and fast-paced R&I team, you will collaborate with team members from innovation, product business units, customer marketing, information systems, and other stakeholders. You will be helping us develop a knowledge infrastructure and developing insights that will help create and market better products for the future. You will enjoy this role if you love conducting research, learning more about and performing research analysis, identifying insights that make a difference, as well as building the foundation for knowledge management.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Prepare category and division trend reports and customer presentations that create actionable insights
  • Help to establish and populate the knowledge infrastructure database in order to enable teams across Rich’s to better leverage our research
  • Conduct competitive, industry, and customer intelligence searches that enhance marketplace understanding
  • Make an impact through manipulating, summarizing, and analyzing data from syndicated and other sources and drawing insightful conclusions
  • Measure overall customer satisfaction and customer visit satisfaction in order to help Rich’s make continuous improvements
  • Assist in our strategic planning process by performing industry spreadsheet analysis and by helping the R&I team to develop industry megatrends that inform our business strategy
  • Support the R&I team by making them more effective through prepping presentations in an executive-friendly manner, testing questionnaires, and mining data

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in the Buffalo area and majoring in Marketing, Business, Analytics, Social Sciences, or related field
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask, prioritize, and be able to successfully handle several projects at once. Organizational skills are a must along with attention to detail.
  • Resourceful and able to figure out who or where to look for information
  • Possessing investigative curiosity - enjoys digging through unstructured data to find insights
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and independently
  • Able to work individually and be part of a teamStrong written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic statistical understanding
  • Experience working with data both quantitative and qualitative
  • Strong PC proficiency to include Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
