PURPOSE STATEMENT
The Sr. Product Development Scientist will plan, organize and conduct applied scientific research, which contributes the technical knowledge and expertise necessary to commercialize and expand existing RPC business platforms. Analyzes research data and prepares detailed reports and presentations for R&D management and other key stakeholders.
• Provides technical leadership and support to global R&D associates and is a key contributor to initiatives and projects in product/process development.
• May have limited supervisory responsibilities.
*** This position will be located at our world headquarters in Buffalo, NY and will require 30-50% of international travel ***
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES

- Acts as a technical leader by planning, managing and conducting/executing research projects in product or process development in any of the following possible categories: fruit and pastry fillings, buttercreme icings, glazes, syrups or sauces. Establishes project methodology and time tables, identifies and organizes project team, coordinates other needed resources and monitors project progress. Maintains all project work in an electronic lab notebook.
- Mentors R&D associates in other global R&D centers by sharing technical knowledge and expertise and providing necessary training.
- Proposes new or innovative methods for using technology to resolve problems.
- Prepares and edits reports and regular updates, providing concise summaries of project work. Present project results and recommendations to various audiences including R&D associates, other RPC staff and interested external groups.
- Develops and documents best practices, technical training, and establishes methodologies
- Represents the company with outside vendors, suppliers, universities, associations and governmental agencies. Maintains confidentiality of proprietary information.
- Performs related responsibilities, as needed, to support Rich Products Corporation's business objectives.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or related field (e.g. Food Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Engineering, etc.) required. Master’s degree in Food Science or related field preferred
- 8+ years industrial, applied research experience, in job-related field with Bachelors or Masters OR Ph.D. (e.g. Food Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Engineering, etc.) 3+ years industrial, applied research experience, in job-related field
- Solid verbal and written communication skills including presentation skills
- Strong technical/processing knowledge with the following categories: fruit and pastry fillings, buttercreme icings, glazes, syrups or sauces. Strong technical knowledge of starches desired
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Proven record of independently achieved accomplishments as demonstrated by: products/process / technological innovation and/or improvement
- Demonstrated ability to influence and lead others
- Solid PC proficiency (Excel, Word, database, statistical software) and the ability to create spreadsheets, computer analysis, report writing. Proficient with relevant software tools (e.g. PLM, etc.)
- Interfaces frequently with various internal and external groups within industry.
- Regular International travel 30-50% of time.
