Purpose Statement
The Business Analyst - DSD serves as a strategic analytics and insights partner to the Direct Store Delivery organization, enabling data-driven decision-making that improves route performance, delivery efficiency, cost-to-serve, and customer satisfaction. This role translates complex operational, sales, and financial data into actionable insights that optimize field execution and support DSD transformation initiatives. The analyst partners closely with DSD Operations, Sales, Finance, Supply Chain, and IT to strengthen performance management, streamline processes, and ensure data integrity across DSD systems.
Key Accountabilities and Outcomes
Data Analytics, Insights & Performance Management
• Collect, cleanse, and analyze DSD operational data (routes, delivery times, order accuracy, inventory) to support performance optimization.
• Identify trends, risks, and performance drivers affecting service levels, productivity, and profitability.
• Translate insights into clear, actionable recommendations that improve route efficiency and reduce cost-to-serve.
• Design, maintain, and enhance dashboards tracking key DSD KPIs, including on-time delivery, route productivity, and cost per stop.
• Deliver standardized and ad-hoc performance reporting for leadership and field teams using Power BI, Tableau, and Excel.
Operational & Business Process Optimization
• Partner with DSD leadership to understand operational challenges and performance gaps.
• Recommend and support process improvements across delivery scheduling, route planning, and order fulfillment.
• Enable initiatives that enhance customer experience, reduce waste, and improve execution consistency.
Forecasting, Planning & Resource Optimization
• Support demand forecasting for DSD routes using historical data and trend analysis.
• Assist with capacity planning, labor modeling, and resource allocation decisions to support growth and efficiency.
Cross-Functional Partnership & Enterprise Collaboration
• Collaborate with Sales, Supply Chain, Finance, and IT to align DSD strategies with broader business objectives.
• Act as a liaison between technical teams (IT, data engineers) and DSD stakeholders to translate business needs into analytics solutions.
DSD Digital Transformation
• Support leadership in DSD transformation initiatives
• Contribute analytics support for digital capabilities such as RFID, predictive analytics, and advanced reporting.
Data Governance, Compliance & Controls
• Ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity of DSD data across systems.
• Maintain compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and data governance standards.
• Prepare documentation and reporting required for audits and internal reviews, including RPC requirements.
Project & Initiative Support
• Assist in developing project timelines, milestones, and tracking progress across DSD initiatives.
• Provide data-driven updates on project performance, risks, and outcomes.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Supply Chain, Information Systems, or related field
• 3–5 years of experience in analytics or operations (DSD or route-based delivery preferred)
• Proficiency in SQL, Excel, and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau)
• Familiarity with route optimization software and SAP systems is a plus (including S4)
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
