Freight Broker - Truckload (ROAR)

**ROAR Logistics, a Buffalo, NY based global transportation service provider (3PL) with 9 operations centers in the U.S is opening its newest and 10th office, located in Chandler, AZ.  This newest office will be staffed with experienced Freight Brokers and entry-level Logistics Coordinators.  ROAR Logistics delivers “best in class” customer service and utilizes state-of-the-art technology to coordinate, manage & track customer’s shipments. 

PURPOSE STATEMENT

Work independently and as part of a team to actively secure new customers and carriers, procure freight from new & existing customers and handle any/all customer service tasks in a timely manner while maximizing margins, developing long-term collaborative relationships, and minimizing risks.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES

  • Develop carrier relationships to effectively support customer’s freight needs
  • Search for, manage, retain, and grow qualified Customers by providing exceptional Customer Service tactics, communication, and negotiating rates to be competitive in the current market.
  • Based on current market conditions, capacity levels, and customer volumes; accept/reject customer orders via e-mail, web, Transportation Management Systems (TMS) or fax. 
  • Accurate data entry, shipment routing, appointment setting and related clerical duties critical for proper execution of shipment.
  • Track individual customer shipments to ensure on-time pickup and delivery, update customer TMS accordingly and proactively alert sales and customers of positive outcomes as well as problems, including resolution options.
  • Be a problem-solver and solutions-provider to all customers, carriers, and ROAR associates.
  • Be able to handle other tasks as assigned by ROAR Management team, as well as related administrative duties with both accuracy and efficiency.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics is preferred, but not a requirement.  High School Diploma or equivalent GED is required.
  • Two or more years of experience in truckload operations or related transportation industry
  • Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office Products and Transportation Operations Systems
  • Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Must be comfortable and confident working in a fast-paced, and sometimes stressful environment.
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously with a sense of urgency.
  • Candidate should have a positive mindset and be self-motivated.
