PURPOSE STATEMENT

The Materials Team Leader provides direct leadership, communication, and tools to all material handling associates to ensure a safe, efficient, and accurate (plant wide) material handling operation; enforces all plant quality, safety, and operational policies and procedures in an effort to exceed both internal and external customer expectations and is responsible for the organization, scheduling of staff and directing of all material handling functions.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES

  • Prioritize, coordinate, and direct all work assignments of material handling associates in an effort to maintain a constant workflow.  Must be able to provide analytical analysis and feedback to management.
  • Monitor and establish receiving, warehousing, and material distribution procedures to ensure associate, finished goods, and ingredient safety.
  • Must maintain accurate inventories through frequent cycle counts, and the monitoring of associates’ transactions that affect the integrity of all systems.
  • Must maintain a clean and orderly work environment and keep all areas to AIB/GMP specifications at all times.           
  • Must be able to maintain detailed documentation for all required information.   
  • Maintain an open line of communication with all internal and external customers and proactively advise of any situation that may need immediate attention.
  • Monitor all supplies, tools, and equipment to ensure demand is always met to cover short and long term goals and functions.
  • Coordinate material requirements throughout the manufacturing process to meet production requirements.
  • Ensure that all warehouse/receiving associates are trained and kept up to date on all procedures and equipment; will be responsible for maintaining and making recommendations for all material handling equipment.    
  • Must be proactive, consistent and fair in decisions and set an example for work practices to fellow co-workers.
  • Engage in only positive conversations and constructive criticism.
  • Must be able to work any shift as needed.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree Required; and 3 to 5 years experience and/or training
  • Ability to follow defined policies, processes, and procedures
  • Must have excellent computer skills and experience in extracting and analyzing data using information systems reporting tools such as Excel.
  • Efficient with all Microsoft Office products
  • Experience using QAD, SAP, and Outlook a plus
  • Must have good interpersonal, analytical, leadership, and problem solving skills
  • Must have good written and verbal skills
  • Hands-on, very willing to “roll the sleeves up” and get involved to get the job done
