f’real foods is a growing frozen beverage company that designs and markets great-tasting milkshakes, smoothies and frappes. f’real f’natics (people who love our products!) freshly blend our delicious beverages in a patented blender that can be found in almost 20,000 locations across North America, and now internationally. A wholly-owned subsidiary of Rich Products Corporation, our company has grown by leaps and bounds, yet f’realies (team members) still maintain our entrepreneurial spirit and culture. 

 

Our latest blender is a masterpiece of electro-mechanical sophistication (if we do say so ourselves), with lots of electronics, a couple of computers, a multitude of sensors, several motors, built-in diagnostics and remote cellular monitoring.  We’re in the process of bringing more versions to market and we’re looking for a smart and enthusiastic Manufacturing Engineer to join our team.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES

 

Position Summary:

This career-level position will support new product introduction (NPI) and supplier development as we continue to grow and expand our product offerings.  You will report to the Manager of Manufacturing Engineering and work from our office in Emeryville, CA.  Domestic and international travel will be required and may be frequent at times.  You will receive general supervision and direction from the Manager of Manufacturing Engineering, and work with a cross-functional team to transition new products to manufacturing, and improve the quality, cost of goods, and reliability of existing products.  Some of the specific responsibilities of this position include:

 

  • Assist with the design transfer of new products to our contract manufacturing partners (CM’s)
  • Provide support to CM’s for process development, scale-up, cost reduction, and quality improvement
  • Perform product/process analysis for cost reduction, improved quality and efficiency
  • Select commercial electrical and mechanical components according to established specifications, and evaluate for performance, reliability, and cost
  • Modify CAD models and drawings of custom components and assemblies, with guidance from engineering staff
  • Plan and conduct design verification and reliability tests, prepare written protocols and plans
  • Set-up and assemble test fixtures/apparatus, including measurement and data acquisition instruments; design, and source test fixtures/apparatus as needed.
  • With guidance from your GM prepare and pursue a personal development plan

Qualifications:

  • BS in Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline required
  • 4-7 years full-time experience as a manufacturing engineer in a supplier development role
  • Understanding of engineering fundamentals including: electrical and mechanical principles, fluidics, materials
  • Experience with common manufacturing processes and practices: particularly injection molding, CNC and sheet metal fabrication
  • Familiar with statistical methods, 6-sigma, and LEAN concepts
  • Familiar with common instruments including: volt-ohm Meter, oscilloscope, micrometer, etc.
  • Able to prepare, read, analyze, and interpret common technical and manufacturing documents
  • Familiarity with common CAD software (SolidWorks desired) and office productivity tools (MSWord, MSExcel)
