Meet Your Job

The Manufacturing Engineer will support new product introduction (NPI) and supplier development as we continue to grow and expand our product offerings.  You will report to the Engineering Manager and work from our office in Lee’s Summit, MO.  Domestic and international travel will be required and may be frequent at times.  You will work with a cross-functional team to transition new products to manufacturing, and improve the quality, cost of goods, and reliability of existing products.  Some of the specific responsibilities of this position include:

  • Assist with the design transfer of new products to our contract manufacturing partners (CM’s)
  • Provide support to CM’s for process development, scale-up, cost reduction, and quality improvement
  • Perform product/process analysis for cost reduction, improved quality and efficiency
  • Select commercial electrical and mechanical components according to established specifications, and evaluate for performance, reliability, and cost
  • Modify CAD models and drawings of custom components and assemblies, with guidance from engineering staff
  • Plan and conduct design verification and reliability tests, prepare written protocols and plans
  • Set-up and assemble test fixtures/apparatus, including measurement and data acquisition instruments; design, and source test fixtures/apparatus as needed

Job Requirements:

Approximately 15-20% travel required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • BS in Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline required
  • 4-7 years full-time experience as a manufacturing engineer in a supplier development role
  • Understanding of engineering fundamentals including: electrical and mechanical principles, fluidics, materials
  • Experience with common manufacturing processes and practices: particularly injection molding, CNC and sheet metal fabrication
  • Familiar with statistical methods, 6-sigma, and LEAN concepts
  • Familiar with common instruments including: volt-ohm Meter, oscilloscope, micrometer, etc.
  • Able to prepare, read, analyze, and interpret common technical and manufacturing documents
  • Familiarity with common CAD software (SolidWorks desired) and office productivity tools (MSWord, MSExcel)
  • Positive and fun outlook…we’re in the milkshake business after all!
