Purpose Statement

The Shipping/Receiving Material Handler loads customer trailers with products, transports finished products into freezers, and unloads trailers of ingredients. Verifies and keeps records of all incoming and outgoing shipments. Maintains the warehouses and storage areas.

Key Accountabilities and Outcomes

  • Must have a good working knowledge of product labeling to ensure correct product is being shipped/received
  • Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming or outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders or other records
  • Prepares and expedites shipments – wraps pallets with plastic and affixes labels, including any special customer labels; scan labels into the system; moves pallets from the production floor to the warehouse freezers and stacks; fills out bills of lading and completes any additional paperwork; inputs information into the computer
  • Operates the forklift; motorized pallet jack; clamp; wrap machine, crane and clamper, Yard truck
  • Operates the computer programs and scanner system
  • Moves finished products and ingredients to and from the production floor as required – picks up any returns
  • Stages product and loads the Customer trucks (2-6 daily) – partial loads need to be stacked by hand – only Tech 2 is allowed to load the customer trucks
  • Works as a member of a 5 person team (3 on production floor, 2 in the freezers) – rotate positions on a weekly basis
  • Delivers pallets and sample cases to R&D or QC
  • Consolidates partial pallets, fixes any damaged pallets
  • Inspects aisles, sweeps the work area and keeps it clean
  • Turnover with next crew at both ends of the shift re problems or unfinished work
  • Performs other assigned duties as required
  • Inventory Responsibilities which includes conducting Inventory Cycle Counts thru the RF system as well as verification and or validations

 

SAFETY AND QUALITY:

  • Follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and all other food safety requirements
  • Ensures Technicians are wearing all required PPE
  • Uses inspection checklist to ensure forklift is safe to run – reports any damage – changes batteries
  • Be able to safely lift items from 10-50 pounds – boxes, pallets - ask for help when lifting heavier items
  • Must be certified to use the motorized Pallet Jack, Fork Lift, Yard truck, Wrap Machine – ensure safe operation of all machinery, tools and equipment
  • Maintains proper housekeeping and safety standards

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Will be assigned to work in extremely cold (freezers) or hot (docks in summer) conditions
  • Most positions are located in areas with loud noise and will require the employee to wear protective ear plugs
  • Other conditions include flour dust, wet floors, occasional smoke and fumes from cleaning chemicals (ammonia)
  • Main activities will be constant sitting, occasional lifting, walking, standing, pulling, and pushing

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferable; or 6 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office, E-mail, and simple database applications
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a sit-down forklift
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • English skills – bilingual (Spanish) preferred
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs

 

COMPENSATION

In accordance with state law, the rate or range provided is Rich Products Corporation, its subsidiaries and affiliates ("Rich's"), reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may be higher or lower, based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, shift differential, and location.

 

Hourly Rate

$22.00 - $22.00 plus shift differential as applicable
