PURPOSE STATEMENT

The Maintenance Parts Technician is responsible for ordering standard and non-standard parts, handling purchase orders, soliciting bids from approved vendors, researching parts for better pricing or easier access, dealing with parts emergencies and handling paperwork for all outside vendors for Maintenance, Sanitation, Safety, QC, IT and Production when necessary.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES

  • Reconciles ordered and received paperwork – check the inventory into CMMS and accounting (QAD) databases
  • Handles any emergencies that crop up during the day regarding parts ordering for the facility.
  • Handles paperwork for outside vendors primarily in Maintenance, secondarily with Sanitation, Safety, IT, QC, and Production
  • Assists in re-engineering parts when needed – comes up with a solution and draws a sketch for the machine shop
  • Creates PO’s for items needed for specific projects which are not kept in stock – also for outside service work (generally from approved vendors) – accesses ARIBA and QAD databases
  • Researches existing parts for better pricing or easier access without affecting production
  • Finds alternate for obsolete parts – gets the dimensions and necessary specs for suitable replacement
  • Takes photos of all parts and keeps accurate and detailed information within the CMMS and hard copy filing system
  • Conduct required cycle count procedure, document and keep necessary records of MRO inventory
  • Performs other assigned duties as required

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • AA degree or equivalent combination of knowledge, skill and experience
  • Speak, read and write in English - bilingual (Spanish) preferred but not required
  • Sound manufacturing mechanical and electrical knowledge base
  • Computer skills (Microsoft excel, word, outlook, project, CMMS, Accounting systems)
  • Understanding of maintenance systems and maintenance specific software tools
  • Understanding of the requisition and receiving process, capable of writing requisitions and purchasing parts through various systems
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
