PURPOSE STATEMENT

The Production Group Leader is responsible for the performance of the line in one of the following areas: Bread Production, Bread Packing, Bagels, Danish, Donuts, Cake and Finishing Departments; ensures that the line is running safely and meeting all production targets (t-max, metal detectors, quality, yield, etc.).  The Production Group Leader keeps production on schedule and handles changes and problems. The Production Group Leader also makes line decisions when the Team Leader is unavailable and backs up the production aspects of the Team Leader position for days off, vacations and illness.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES

  • Turnover with other line operators at both ends of the shift to discuss production changes and which tasks still need to be completed
  • Check schedules for production changes
  • Give work direction to the teams on the shift - make sure the Production Associates have a copy of the Playbook
  • Use the computer to access information and checklists; fill out various forms as well as entering data into the computer
  • Order ingredients, boxes and other materials
  • Set up and prepare line for production.
  • Handle any unscheduled work, reassign line workers as necessary
  • Know how to operate all machinery in his/her area of responsibility and check to make sure it is functioning correctly
  • Schedule and relieve Production Associates and Machine Operators for rotations, breaks and lunch
  • Adjust the line speed when necessary
  • Act as liaison with other departments – Quality Control; Maintenance; Sanitation; Shipping & Receiving; Safety
  • Perform pre-inspection and pre-scale of the line with QC to make sure it’s clean and ready to run the next product
  • Re-emphasize safety and proper operating procedures on the line
  • Ensure area is clean during and at the end of the shift
  • Becomes one of the TPM Trio champions and participates in multiple pillars providing support to drive TPM
  • Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and all other food safety requirements as they relate to all products and processes.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferable; or 3 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office, E-mail, and simple database applications (i.e. SAP and QDMS)
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and LOTO certification in all the machines of the corresponding department
  • Proficient in performance of all Production positions (Production Associate - Levels 1&2 and Machine Operator – Levels 1&2) tasks;
  • Ability to read and understand English required
  • Willingness to work weekends and overtime when required
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.  These include:
    • Constant Walking, Standing on hard concrete surface
    • Frequent Bending, Stooping, Squatting, Pushing, Pulling
    • Occasional Lifting and Ladder climbing
    • Periodic lifting of up to 50 lbs (10-25 lbs – boxes, scrap bins, garbage bins)
  • Must be certified to use the motorized Pallet Jack or Fork Lift
  • Must have ability to work in and contribute to Production Improvement, Associate Involvement, and Temporary Teams as assigned

COMPENSATION

 

In accordance with state law, the rate or range provided is Rich Products Corporation, its subsidiaries and affiliates ("Rich's"), reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may be higher or lower, based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, shift differential, and location.

 

Hourly Rate

$25.40 - $25.40 plus shift differential as applicable
