Purpose Statement
Under minimum supervision, the Refrigeration Technician ll performs daily maintenance and repair of all facility refrigeration systems, as well as, maintenance of the heating and cooling equipment within the facility, ensuring optimal performance and efficiencies. Responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems according to all safety procedures, including State and Federal regulations.
Key Accountabilities and Outcomes
- Acts as mechanical, technical, and operational, support to all refrigeration pneumatics, hydraulics and boilers for the facility
- Supports the Maintenance team in matters pertaining to refrigeration, pneumatics, hydraulics and boilers
- Assures compliance to refrigeration, pneumatics, hydraulics and boilers standards set forth by maintenance management, State and Federal Regulations
- Analyzes refrigeration malfunctions from performance and test equipment readings and determines appropriate repairs
- Understands steam principles and facility steam systems with the ability to troubleshoot pumps, valves, piping, and water treatment
- Stays current on the last technology pertaining to Refrigeration, Pneumatics, Hydraulics and Boilers
- Checks temperatures, pressures, chemical levels, valves, gauges – adds chemicals if necessary
- Check air compressors, pumps, refrigeration rooms and freezers
- Makes a list of parts needed, fills out requisition form and hands in to Lead to be signed for parts not in stock
- Gets any parts that are in stock and start PM’s on equipment not currently in use – tears apart and rebuilds
- Trains less experienced technicians and handles the more complex problems
- Works with outside contractors – shuts down and starts up any equipment they will be working on, makes sure they have all the appropriate permits, that they follow PPE’s, have all the equipment they need, signs off on contractor paperwork
- Completes paperwork – temperature, pressure, oil levels, chemical levels, etc.
- Performs other assigned duties as required
SAFETY:
- Understands equipment hazards to prevent injury to self and others – understands company policies on safety and follow procedures – GMP’s, (Good Manufacturing Practices),HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) , PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) Lock-Out Tag-Out
- Reports any potentially unsafe practices/conditions to the Supervisor
- Is able to safely lift up to 50lbs
- Recommends changes to improve safety standards
- Is certified to use the motorized Pallet Jack, Fork Lift, Scissor Lift, Boom lift, Chain Hoists, Hydraulic lifts, Lock-out Tag-out – ensures safe operation of all machinery, tools and equipment
- Responds to emergency situations to resolve immediate safety concerns
- Maintains proper housekeeping and safety standards
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Will work in variations of temperature from extremely cold to hot conditions
- Most positions are located in areas with loud noise and will require the employee to wear protective ear plugs
- Other conditions include flour dust, wet floors, occasional smoke and fumes from chemicals (ammonia)
- Main activities will be frequent walking, occasional lifting and standing
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of hands-on experience operating and maintaining ammonia refrigeration systems.
- RETA or GCAP Operator I & II, PSM/RMP, and EPA Universal 608 certifications required.
- Food and beverage manufacturing industry experience preferred, but not required.
- Demonstrates strong problem-solving skills by identifying and resolving issues in a timely manner, gathering and analyzing relevant information, and developing effective alternative solutions.
- Possesses working knowledge of air conditioning, heating codes, and refrigeration systems, applicable codes and standards, refrigeration tools, materials, testing equipment, and schematic diagrams. Demonstrates a commitment to continuous learning and professional development and actively shares knowledge to support the growth and development of team members.

- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English; bilingual proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
- Proficient in using computer applications for data entry, recordkeeping, reporting, and other job-related functions.

COMPENSATION
In accordance with state law, the rate or range provided is Rich Products Corporation, its subsidiaries and affiliates ("Rich's"), reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may be higher or lower, based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, shift differential, and location.
Hourly Rate
$42.10 - $42.10 plus shift differential as applicable
