PURPOSE STATEMENT
The Production Technician is a developmental position that is responsible for making minor adjustments to plant equipment. This is an entry level position that will not troubleshoot or repair electrical motors, switches or components until the skills are asset by the Maintenance Manager and Safety Manager. The Production Technician employs a positive, professional attitude at all times and communicates effectively in a team environment that includes personnel from Management, Maintenance, Production, Sanitation, etc.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES
- Safely perform all tasks to include following all food safety guidelines (GMPs), LOTO, confined space (knowledge of), fall protection, and any other safety training applicable to the position.
- Must be able to execute position requirements with little or no supervision.
- Complete Work Order tasks as assigned and report results.
- Inform the appropriate facility personnel of any repair taking longer than 15 minutes to adjust or repair.
- Account for spare parts used and assigned tools.
- Perform housekeeping and other incidental duties in the shop and all other work areas as assigned.
- Asist the line associates in preforming pre-startup checks, clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears and other parts of machinery.
- Inspect, operate and test machinery and equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance to maintain base condition and to ensure that equipment run smoothly, efficiently without breakdowns.
- Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, check drawings/blueprints, repair manuals and parts catalogs as necessary.
- Adjust, repair or replace defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools and reassemble equipment.
