PURPOSE STATEMENT

Happy Orchard, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Rich Products Corporation, is a fully automated, SQF and organic certified co-packer/co-manufacturer specializing in dried goods, blends and 3PL fulfillment. We are a team of food and operation enthusiasts passionate about partnering with our customers to empower their brands. We are six years young, 150 associates strong, and growing rapidly! KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES

We are looking for a hands-on Quality Assurance Manager with expertise in BRC food safety management systems, and the ability to lead a small but passionate team. Ideally, you are structured, practical, and bring enthusiasm to Food Safety!

Key Accountabilities/Outcomes:

  • Responsible for maintaining the Food Safety Plan (BRC):

  • Develop SOPs and continuously assess existing processes.

  • Ensure all forms and checklists are monitored, verified and filed in a timely and accurate manner and comply with our food safety plan.

  • Train and retrain personnel in key areas including, but not limited to, GMPs, SSOPs, and operating procedures.

  • Oversee key areas of the system: maintenance, pest control, sanitation, microbiology, supply chain, calibration, allergen management, HACCP, GMP, and internal auditing.

  • Ensures the appropriate amount of risk assessments are conducted and in place to comply with BRC guidelines.

  • Mentors and motivates associates, providing training and development to optimize their performance and personal growth.

  • Communicates performance standards to associates, recognizing and rewarding individual and team accomplishments and counseling performance problems. Ensures all associates have the resources and capabilities to effectively accomplish their responsibilities.

  • Conducts root cause analysis and drives solutions to internal and external plant issues.  Maintains necessary records regarding the problem’s resolution.

  • Meets with vendors, customers and quality representatives and other company staff to discuss and resolve quality issues.

  • Leads in quality audits of the plant, serving as the BRC practitioner for the plant.

  • Leads regular meetings with plant management to discuss quality improvements.

  • Develops, maintains and reports required operational information to management. Ensures all quality related information required for regulatory reviews and reporting is maintained by the plant. Participates in daily GMP, sanitation and safety inspections throughout the production departments and corrects, or issues work orders to correct, any identified deficiencies.

  • Maintains a comprehensive understanding of all products manufactured by the plant as well as the raw materials, packaging materials, and operations required in the manufacturing process including quality specifications (specification sheets, COIs, product testing where needed, etc) and standards. Performs other related responsibilities, as needed, to support Happy Orchard’s business objectives.

  • Recommends, as appropriate, the suspension of production or the release of product when quality standards are not achieved.

  • Manages and directs staff responsible for microbiological testing and other quality control testing of plant products.

  • Oversees maintenance of the weight and defect control programs in accordance with plant and company standards.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm and positivity to the role and be able to operate both autonomously and in collaboration with all levels of the organization. A self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment who is also comfortable with workload and not afraid to "roll up their sleeves".

Knowledge/Skills/Experience:

  • BA/BS degree in Business, Supply Chain Operations, Food Science, Engineering or related field and 5 years supervisory experience in a food-processing, pharmaceutical or chemical manufacturing organization, preferably using computerized manufacturing equipment.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of statistical process control, quality assurance techniques and tools and quality management principles in a food, chemical or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment Working knowledge of FDA regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), HACCP, food allergens and pest control.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of refrigeration.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of efficient and safe manufacturing operations to include product and associate safety, OSHA standards, product quality (success rates), and cost control (minimizing downtime and waste, optimizing yield).

  • Demonstrated ability to direct, coach, and train associates as well as plan, monitor and schedule work Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.

  • Demonstrated mechanical and spatial aptitude, including the ability to disassemble and reassemble equipment.

  • Demonstrated ability to formulate and understand complex mathematical equations including basic statistical analysis.
