PURPOSE STATEMENT

The National Commercial Chains Manager position will be focused on maximizing the growth and profitability of our base business, sell new products, product applications and programs with our existing customers & targeted new customers. In addition to focusing on national accounts and geographically relevant regional chains.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES

  • Partner with Sales & Marketing leadership to develop and/or update customer targets and strategic plans
  • Selectively build or manage accounts for profit depending upon the chain; leverage as a source for NDP/innovation
  • Develop customer business plans including the following:
    • Product targets and forecasts
    • Customer profile and the competitive landscape
    • Customer people/relationship plans and accurate maintenance of CRM
    • Resource support plan and budget, cost tracking (Sales, Marketing, Demand Creation, Culinary, R&D/Customization, Senior Management, Finance, Operations etc.)
    • Utilize intimate knowledge of RPC key categories
    • Culinary objectives
  • Maintain an understand of the all the contract terms, obligations and pricing trigger points
  • Manage product customization support based on divisional leadership alignment to the opportunity
  • Exceed account sales and profit goals with targeted accounts
  • Work closely with customer marketers to develop product and menu presentations for customers.
  • Utilize the knowledge and application of internal support services and processes (R&D, CS&L, STM, Finance/Trade, Legal) to achieve account goals and customer satisfaction.
  • Address issues and resolve in a timely manner
  • Business development with existing customer opportunities and assigned “white space” customers
  • Manages T&E, event budgets & advertising and other marketing budgets.
  • Sample budget management, air freight and spoilage budget

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors degree required (in business management, finance, economics or marketing preferred) with  minimum 7 years of proven track record of success selling to national accounts in foodservice 
  • Demonstrated relationship building 
  • Demonstrated financial acumen including understanding of P&L and customer cost drivers.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Foodservice Industry including customer organizational alignment, decision making process, back of the house requirements and key profit drivers
  • Project Management skills preferred
  • Solid written and verbal communications skills to include strong presentation skills with all levles within an organization
  • Demonstrated ability influencing and providing direction
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency level in Microsoft Office  365 including Word/Excel/PowerPoint), other sales tools like CRM systems a plus
  • Ability to travel  up to 75%
