Purpose Statement
The primary function of a Maintenance Mechanic I is to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair plant equipment and facilities.
Key Accountabilities and Outcomes
- Test and troubleshoot automated machinery working from mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, established assembly and test procedures and written or verbal instructions.
- Adhere to production schedules, key performance indicators, lead times, departmental and company goals.
- Perform preventative maintenance inspections on a wide variety of machines in accordance with written guidelines.
- Work in a team environment while handling day to day line calls, performing required PM’s and work orders.
- Troubleshoot mechanical/electrical level.
- Perform minor fabrication or modifications of machine parts to quickly get the machine up and running.
- Understanding and ability to use Excel, Word, CMMS databases and related computer software for machine programming, backup and monitoring.
- Basic understanding of Allen Bradley SLC500 and Control Logix PLC platforms.
- Able to read and interpret the information in pertinent documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Perform Preventative maintenance procedures (PM) and scheduled repairs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- 1-3 years of experience in facilities maintenance, ideally in an automated food manufacturing environment; experience working with ammonia refrigeration desirable
- Minor fabrication skills such as cutting, welding and running a mill or lathe desirable.
- Self-motivated, able to take initiative and use sound judgment in day-to-day decision making
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work effectively and communicate with all levels of the organization
- Familiarity with 24 VDC wiring controls
- Willingness and ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand, walk, lift, twist and bend on a frequent basis
- Basic computer skills including Excel and Word and SAP
- Basic understanding of boiler systems, air compressors, and ammonia systems
- Excellent English communication skills required, bilingual speaker a plus
- Adherence to Food Safety and GMP guidelines.
- Overtime will be required.
