Purpose Statement
The General Laborer supports the safe, efficient, and high-quality production of food products by performing hands-on assembly line and material handling tasks throughout the plant. This role is essential to maintaining line flow, product integrity, and compliance with safety, quality, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in a fast-paced, team-based manufacturing environment.
Key Accountabilities and Outcomes
- Perform hands-on work on production and assembly lines, including packing, recasing, repackaging, and product rework across multiple lines.
- Support production by maintaining line speed while meeting quality and appearance standards.
- Prepare, stage, and replenish materials, packaging, and supplies during production runs.
- Accurately verify production codes, dates, and labels to ensure compliance with product specifications.
- Operate and adjust coder machines as needed to ensure accurate labeling.
- Build, stack, and hand-palletize finished goods in accordance with safety and quality requirements.
- Perform manual tasks including packing cases, moving cases, and rework activities as assigned.
- Ensure unused materials are resealed, labeled, and returned to designated warehouse locations following standard procedures.
- Power down, clean, and prepare coding, taping, and production equipment for the next shift.
- Manually palletize cases and pails as required, including stacking pallets up to 72 inches in height.
- Support proper start-up and shut-down of production equipment by ensuring work areas are clean, materials are staged, and equipment checklists are followed.
- Assist with product changeovers, including removal and staging of packaging materials.
- Maintain adequate supplies of packaging materials including bags, pails, labels, lids, and cases to support efficient production flow.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout the shift.
- Comply with all Safety, GMP, Quality, Plant Policies, and food safety requirements.
- Communicate production or quality concerns to team leads or supervisors as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, GMP policies and production procedures.
- Basic math skills using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to follow instructions and standardized manufacturing processes.
- Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks including bending, twisting, stooping, pushing, pulling, and grasping.
- Ability to lift up to 55 pounds as required.
- Ability to work in hot, cold, humid, and high-noise environments, with appropriate PPE.
- Willingness to work a multi-shift manufacturing environment, including overtime as needed.
COMPENSATION
In accordance with state law, the rate or range provided is Rich Products Corporation, its subsidiaries and affiliates ("Rich's"), reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may be higher or lower, based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, shift differential, and location.
