Purpose Statement
The schedule is 2nd Shift: Monday thru Thursday 4:00 pm to 2:30 am
- The purpose of a Production Group Lead is to coordinate the actions of a group of associates responsible for converting raw materials into finished goods in compliance with Rich's Manufacturing System. The position plans and coordinates staffing, communicates expectations and schedules to the group, ensures materials, machinery, and tools are available throughout the shift, trains associates and monitors their performance, and drives continuous improvement.
- The position coordinates the actions of 20 to 30 associates and Temporaries. This includes training, coaching and delegating actions for the group as appropriate, facilitates two-way communication, operates production equipment as needed, and is responsible for carrying out the directions of the Production Team Lead.
Key Accountabilities and Outcomes
- Safety- Provide a safe work environment and create a Safety Culture to the group
- Budget- Clearly understand and execute labor standards and run rates to optimize product costs.
- Food Safety- Understand food safety and GMP policies at their site and enforce those policies.
- Product Quality- Understand product quality checks, complete the checks and validate that product meets quality standards.
- Schedule Attainment- Coordinates people, processes, materials, and equipment to keep the line/area running. Identifying interruptions that impact schedule attainment.
- Leadership- Use Rich's Great Leader Drivers to drive results and engagement with a team of production associates.
- Rich Experience- Shows associates the connection between what they do and Rich's customers.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- HS Diploma or GED
- 3 years of experience as a machine operator in a food-processing manufacturing organization
- Ability to lead, motivate and train associates
- Knowledge of FDA regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), sanitation processes/procedures and HAACP
- Good skills to analyze problems, develop solutions and successfully implement the solutions
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to plan, organize and implement actions to drive continuous improvement
- Experience using Excel and a MRP software, such as SAP
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Moderate degree of physical activity
- Daily activities include walking, standing, climbing, reaching, twisting, stooping, grasping, bending, pushing, pulling and moving about the facility.
- Works in high noise area, hearing protection may be required. Hearing ability to meet Manufacturing facility safety requirements
- Vision abilities include close, distance, peripheral and depth perception
- Requires lifting not to exceed 55 lbs.
- Exposed to cold/ heat/ humidity
- Able to work a multi shift environment
- May handle potentially hazardous equipment or material
- Will be required to work around bakery ingredients as part of daily activities
