PURPOSE STATEMENT

The Sanitation position is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing the processing area as well as maintaining cleanliness of the building as a whole.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES

Essential Functions

  • Perform highly diversified duties to maintain production machines and the plant facility’s equipment.
  • Performs a variety of cleaning and sanitizing activities to include cleaning floors, walls, ceilings, tables and overheads; cleaning bathrooms, break room and locker rooms; disassembling and cleaning equipment and machines; removing trash and scrap fish by product; removing debris from grounds; washing pans; and other cleaning activities.
  • Operates a variety of cleaning equipment such as floor scrubber, power washer, mop, broom, scraper, and dishwasher following all safety procedures to maintain cleanliness and sanitation of plant equipment, buildings and grounds according to company and federal guidelines Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP.
  • Completes Daily sanitation paperwork ensuring that it is completed and filed appropriately.
  • Participates in company and departmental training on policies, procedures and work methods.
  • Diagnose and or report problems.
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, material handling equipment in performing duties.
  • Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
  • Comply with safety, health and certification regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

  • Willing to work in a cold, wet environment (30-34° F) 5-6 hours per shift

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

Required Education and Experience: High school diploma/GED or an equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience. 

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Willing to become Forklift and Pallet Jack certified – internal training provided
  • Computer skills – Familiar with Microsoft Office
  • General knowledge of tools and willing to learn new skills

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds and up to 100 pounds with assistance.

This position requires basic knowledge of tools, and is a great opportunity for someone that wants on the job training in the maintenance field.
