PURPOSE STATEMENT

The Principal Controls Engineer is responsible for effectively supporting the comprehensive integration of technical solutions and related services to support the development of platform-level Industry 4.0 (Smart Factory) solutions. Additionally, support on-site installation, and lead on-site installation, start-up activities, expert troubleshooting of automation control systems & advanced manufacturing software applications. The Controls Engineer would also be responsible for drive controls systems platforms, industrial networks integration, and the individual products and solutions which comprise these systems.

We are happy to consider remote candidates and 30% - 50% travel may be required according to project execution timelines

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES

•    Support the development and implementation of Smart Factory technology strategies at plant level.
•    Find and create new ways to drive operational savings through the addition of industry 4.0 technologies 
•    Contribute to the evolution and expansion of the organizations’ Manufacturing Execution System (MES)
•    Develop and maintain controls engineering standards 
•    Provide customer support through the performance of the installation, as well as overseeing any necessary diagnoses, troubleshooting, service, and repair of equipment and systems.
•    Program PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems for new or modified equipment.
•    Troubleshoot problems, identify, and implement new or amended system functionality, identify operational process gaps, and take corrective actions.
•    Execute initiatives supporting our automation strategy, manage operating workflows and continuous improvement opportunities. 
•    Perform project management functions for customer projects including needs identification, scheduling, tracking, and reporting.
•    Develop and write documentation as required (validation project plans, standard operating procedures, qualification summary reports, system audits, technical reports, etc.).
•    Communicate with leadership teams regarding project details, including properly articulating technical recommendations as needed

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

•    A BS degree in engineering, preferably in Electrical, Computer and Automation fields, with 3-5 years of experience in the Food, Beverage, or CPG industries.
•    Experience in implementing Industry 4.0 / Operational Digitization programs in Food or CPG industries 
•    Experience leading continuous improvement projects (Lean, Six Sigma).  TPM experience is a plus.
•    Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of associates across multiple divisions at different organizational levels. 
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
•    Experienced in troubleshooting and programing PLC and HMI’s utilizing RSLogix 5, 500, 5000, FactoryTalk Studio, RSView32 and/or FTView ME/SE, PowerFlex products and applications, Servo/Motion control
•    Experience with networks including EtherNet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, RIO, and DH+
•    Application/Project experience utilizing software packages such as AssetCentre
•    Experience in Virtual Machine computing and Thin Client technology
•    Agility - Able to arrive to sound technical solutions for immediate corrective actions or support

COMPENSATION

 

In accordance with state law, the rate or range provided is Rich Products Corporation, its subsidiaries and affiliates ("Rich's"), reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may be higher or lower, based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, shift differential, and location.

 

Annual Range/Hourly Rate

$116,938.55 - $175,407.83
