PURPOSE STATEMENT

This role will focus on cheese and dairy.  The ideal candidate will have subject matter expertise in cheese and dairy.  In this role, the senior process development engineer will utilize engineering fundamentals to independently identify, propse, analyze, and design cost effective food processing technology for high complexity projects.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES
  • Must have subject matter expertise in cheese.
  • Provides guidance and day to day supervision for the project work of Associates in the team.                                            
  • May lead multiple technical project teams.
  • Must work effectively with the Operations team.  Interfaces frequently with various internal and external groups within industry.
  • Demonstrate and accomplish cost savings.
  • Identify, evaluate, and develop a detailed proposals for breakthrough new food processing technology that can be applied with or across product categories.
  • Initiate ideas for and lead the design of manufacturing processes for new, high complexity products.
  • Develop the tools and methodology to effectively survey the food industry and identify emerging food process innovations that Rich Products should consider in order to maintain our competitive advantage.
  • Determines requirements for and then prepares thorough and accurate process specifications, designs and conducts experiments to set specifications.
  • Ensures the work environment is sanitary, safe, and orderly.
  • Demonstrates Integrity, Teamwork, Results, Passion, and Positive Attitude.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
  • B.S. Degree in Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related engineering field, 8 years experience, or M.S. + 6 years, or Ph.D. + 3 years of job relevant experience.  Experience expected to have resulted in a solid record of accomplishment.
  • PC / internet skills (Excel, Word, database, statistical software) and the ability to create spreadsheets, computer analysis, report writing. Proficient with relevant software tools (e.g. Optiva, Accolade, etc.).
  • Travels regularly (up to 25% of time).
