Purpose Statement

The Northwest Arkansas Naturals are seeking a creative and self-motivated individual to join the Front Office as our Assistant Groundskeeper.

Key Accountabilities and Outcomes

The Assistant Groundskeeper is our main support for our Head Groundskeeper in assuring we have a first-class playing surface at Arvest Ballpark and its surrounding areas in accordance with MLB requirements. The position is focused on daily management, game preparation, and short and long-term maintenance planning. The Assistant Groundskeeper will provide support in oversight on our staffing and procurement process within established guidelines.

Help with maintenance of stadium playing field with regards to safety, playability, and aesthetics.
Perform maintenance of stadium common areas including the front grass, grass berm in right field, etc.
Perform tasks including mowing, edging, infield clay work, mound/home plate repair, tarp pulls, batting practice setup and break-down, and pre/post game preparation and repair.
Assist in creation and implementation of a written field/grounds management plan.
Participate as assigned in setup and teardown of all special events, including youth baseball tournaments, camps/clinics, camps, concerts, charity events.
Execute prescribed preventative maintenance on field/grounds equipment to maximize lifespan.
Assist in managing all field supplies inventory.
Assist in documenting all training protocols for compliance, safety, and technical needs of grounds crew staff.
Work as assigned in helping to communicate with coaching staff(s) and umpires in adverse weather conditions. 
As assigned, assist in upkeep of batting cages and the Grounds Crew shop and storage area.
During off-peak months’ work closely with Operations Department on assigned tasks.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Minimum of two years’ experience working in high profile athletics fields preferred.
Bachelor’s Degree in Turf Management, Agronomy, or related field preferred.
Ability to operate field/grounds related equipment.
Ability to work flexible and/or unscheduled hours.
Experience managing staff preferred.
Ability to work under pressure and meet established goals and objectives.
Ability to multi-task and establish priorities.
Physical requirements of lifting 50 pounds many times per day, standing, squatting, and bending for long periods.
