PURPOSE STATEMENT

In this role, the senior process development engineer will utilize engineering and food science fundamentals to independently identify, propose, analyze, and design cost effective product and process solutions for high complexity projects.

 

 *This role can be located remotely anywhere within the USA*

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES

  • Provides guidance and day to day supervision for the project work of Associates in the team.                                            
  • May lead multiple technical project teams.
  • Must work effectively with the Operations team. 
  • Interfaces frequently with various internal and external groups within industry.
  • Demonstrate and accomplish cost savings.
  • Identify, evaluate, and develop a detailed proposals for breakthrough new food processing and ingredient technology that can be applied with or across product categories.
  • Initiate ideas for and lead the design of manufacturing processes and product development for new, high complexity products.
  • Develop the tools and methodology to effectively survey the food industry and identify emerging food product or process innovations that Rich Products should consider in order to maintain our competitive advantage.
  • Determines requirements for and then prepares thorough and accurate product and process specifications, designs and conducts experiments to set specifications.
  • Ensures the work environment is sanitary, safe, and orderly.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • B.S. Degree in Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related engineering field (8 years’ experience with B.S degree/M.S. 6+ years/Ph.D. 3+ years of relevant job experience) 
  • PC / internet skills (Excel, Word, database, statistical software) and the ability to create spreadsheets, computer analysis, report writing. Proficient with relevant software tools (e.g. Optiva, Accolade, etc.)
  • Must have R&D process engineering experience
  • Experience in cheese, appetizers, seafood, or meats preferred
  • Product development experience is a plus

 

Currently very limited travel, but can go up to about 25%
