PURPOSE STATEMENT

Reporting directly to the Consumer Brands Division (CBD) Director of Insights and Trade, this position will assist the Trade Marketing Manager in the day-to-day execution, compliance and resolution around key CBD initiatives and objectives for retailer trade promotion, slotting, and demos, and the tools used to manage the business.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES

Management of Trade Budget  
•    Support execution of trade strategy to ensure plans and spending are in line with Division AOP
•    Assist Trade Marketing Manager in review and processing program and fund approval requests from the field in the Blacksmith Trade Promotion Management (TPM) platform 
•    Identify potential overspend issues versus target spend rates and proactively work with Sales and Finance to address, align, and resolve outstanding accrual issues
•    Ensure TPM is up to date with accurate trade deal information to support forecasting process
•    Communicate actionable insights to Sales around planned trade spending and actuals by leveraging Blacksmith TPM and Trade Promotion Optimization (TPO) platforms
•    Support Trade Marketing Manager in creating/updating monthly Trade scorecards and ad hoc reports
•    Assist Trade Marketing Manager in Blacksmith training for Sales Managers and any other users to ensure proficiency with the system and trade processes

Implementation of Trade Strategy 
•    Co-Lead monthly Trade review and planning meetings with Region Sales Managers.  Identify customers where trade spend is above budget and follow up with team on action plans to make sure trade spends are below budget.
•    Lead promotion effectiveness and efficiency improvement via administration and management of the Blacksmith TPO platform
o    Maintain data on Rich’s and competitive promoted price groups (PPGs)
o    Pull and upload monthly syndicated (Nielsen/IRI) data to platform
o    Monthly alignment of planned promotions with consumption actuals
o    Proactively analyze promotional results and ROI.  Develop and communicate actionable insights on trade performance, trends, and opportunities to Regional Sales Managers to increase trade investment effectiveness and efficiency and shape our trade policies and strategies
o    Identify customers and specific events that deliver the highest ROI on divisional trade dollars
•    Leverage Category Management and Shopper Insights work to inform and optimize trade strategies

Support Divisional Sales Planning Process 
•    Serve as CBD’s subject matter expert (SME) on Blacksmith TPO, being the main touch point for any question related with use of the platform
•    Analyze key competitors’ trade strategies and communicate to Sales management
•    Construct Sales templates for use during annual Mid-Year Sales and JSM planning meetings
•    Assist Trade Marketing Manager and Sales Leadership during the annual Sales Target Setting process - develop and allocate AOP volume and spending to Sales regions
•    Assist Sales in the construction of annual customer promotion plans

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE


•    Bachelor’s degree in Business (Finance, Accounting, Marketing) or a related analytics discipline; MBA a plus

•    2-3 years of Sales, Finance, or Accounting experience, with CPG Food experience preferred

•    Financial acumen including proven analytical skills: capable of interpreting and drawing relevant and actionable insights from various data resources and methodologies

•    Problem-solving mentality, intellectually curious, and strong critical thinking skills

•    Technical proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, and Power Point) with a high level of technical proficiency in Excel

•    Proficient systems knowledge and experience with syndicated POS and consumer household panel data (Nielsen/IRI/Numerator), retailer specific scanner data/loyalty card programs, or other proprietary data sources

•    Proficient in Microsoft PowerBI or other data visualization platforms, with experience synthesizing multiple data sources to create and maintain data visualizations, a plus

•    Must be able to effectively communicate in a professional manner, both in writing and orally; strong presentation ability

•    Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously

•    Must be able work effectively with a wide range of Rich’s associates (Sales, Marketing, Finance) and with contacts outside of the company to understand customer needs.

•    Travel – 10% - as required to visit Customers/Sales Managers, attend Trade Promotion conferences, and review trade platform applications and improvements.
